Do not buy from any of these nurseries. I found out after I ordered that there are HUNDREDS of complaints against them with the BBB and on Dave's Gardening website. There is an alert on them and they have a "D+" rating.
I ordered a "Peace Rose" from them, for $7.98 plus $9 shipping.
I waited and waited and 4 weeks later, the rose arrived - dead! The canes were all black and the roots dried up. I planted it anyway, watered and fertilized it but it never grew.
When I contacted them I was told to mail back the DEAD plant and the original shipping label to receive a refund of the plant price only.
It is my contention that they are cheating customers by requiring them to return dead plants at the customer's expense in order to receive a refund . And if you discarded the original shipping label, you are out of luck.
It would cost me more to mail the dead plant back to them than I would get for a refund. [continued below]....
..... That is unreasonable and I believe they know that. I offered to send them a photo of the dead plant and the original shipping label which was reasonable, but they refused.
I filed a complaint with BBB and Consumer Affairs in IL.
Finally, Consumer Affairs contacted them and they agreed to refund the purchase price of the plant if I returned the original shipping label which I had fortunately kept. I am still awaiting said refund.
Other reputable nurseries will issue a refund if you simply ask for it.
Be warned that there are multiple complaints against Direct Gardening et al. Order from them at your peril!
