Direct Merchants Bank I went to check my account online and it would not take and it said to call a number. I called and they stated that my account was closed based on 6 month inactivity. So i stated i want my account reopen. They could not do that. they stated that they were not making money on me. I called to reopen and they stated i could only open a secure savings card with my money and a 35 annual fee. Carol Stream illinois

I went to look at my account online and it would not work. It stated i need to call a number. I did and they stated my account was closed because of 6 months inactivity. So i stated i want my account reopen. They stated that it could not reopen and that they were not making any money off of me. Then i was told that i could reapply. I called and reapplied and they woman stated that only offer was to get a secure savings card with my money only. She stated that this is for people that do not have credit or have bad credit. I stated that my credit is in excellent condition. She got supervisor and she stated this was only offer because of my inactivity. She stated that i call customer service back and try to resolvle this issue with them. I called back and the supervisor stated that they could not open a new acccount or reopen old account. I was told why should they give me credit when i do not use card that often and they were not making any money. I stated why would a credit card company do this to you with excellent credit and a card that was in excellent standing. So i wrote a 5 page letter to direct merchants bank and lets see if i hear back from them. I had a credit limit of 9100. My problem with this is that when i reapplied i was denied credit card. I was denied credit card with the 9100 limit that i had with old card. My card should have never been closed in the first part. They always hit you with the find print. When i reapplied and was denied thats the problem i have.

Better to report that you closed the account rather than they closed it anyway. When a credit report shows that the account was closed by the grantor, other creditors may take it that there was a problem with your account.
