We were told by the sales rep (Kathy) that we would save lots of money on our kitchen remodel we were planning.
So far everytime I have gone to the showroom to look thru books for item (light fixtures, cabinetry, cabinet handles) I have not gotten any assistance (another feature that was touted as being part of this CLUB) nor have I been able to find any savings.
Example: the light fixture that I thought would work in my kitchen ceiling (needed 2), was approx $9.95 BUT the shipping on EACH LIGHT was also $9.95 making one light cost about 20.00. The same light sold at the local Depot & Lowes, sold for $9.95 and then we found a box of the SAME looking light at Lowes (2 for $19.99). This along with the shipping timeframe of 4 weeks, was enough to make us realize that this is not going to work.
We have since tried to obtain our membership refund. (We started this 27 days after signing the contract). First, no one would return our calls. Finally, we were told to email the store manager, Dan Tidwell. I have now emaile him 6 times, since November 17, 2011 and have yet to hear from him. This again is not a good feeling since they also state in the welcome package "DirectBuy Club will work to resolve your issue(s) in accordance with our Membership Policies. The only "policy" we can figure out is they take your money and then do nothing more.
If it is necessary to file a legal complaint or get an attorney, we have resolved ourselves to this. We are not happy with the items that we may want to take weeks to be delivered and to cost twice as much just for the shipping. (we were told the shipping was nominal) Again, not true, if you are charged for EACH same ITEM shipping costs. Kathy explained that the ceiling light issue was because the lights were NOT EXACTLY the same manufacturer. In retrospect, they LOOK IDENTICAL. And everyone knows that any manufacturing company will put a different name on the exact item and ship it to different vendors/business's. This is not rocket science.
