On the 26th of December my bank notified me that Dish Network had 15 charges pending, totalling over 1500.00 When I notified them and asked why, I was told that it was to get the amount owed.

The equipment I was told, was valued at 249.00... But because I had used my debit card to pay the bill prior to this, they accessed my account without my permission. Why was the pending amount 1500.00 on my card? The rep. said " to get you to pay your bill"

The bill was never the amount agreed upon when ordering dish. The (co.) had sent me the boxes on the 24th of December. My account had already been accessed. Numerous Christmas purchases then went to a negative balance. I have filed fraud! NEVER GIVE CREDIT CARD TO THIS co.

Why is Bad business becoming the norm.

AUTHOR: Tgrable - (U.S.A.)

I don't understand why we have so many company fanboi's on this site. Anyways that being said lets get to the point at hand.

This business performs many deceptive practices you can search this site and find this out in a matter of seconds. The way they charged his account without consent is pretty bad (yes I know they have a contract) but the charges on his acccount don't appear to be 15 days after he cancelled, but directly AFTER he cancelled.

Also at 1,500 bucks of charges he would need ALOT of receivers if they retail for a average of 250 (like most do) Also, it should have been the responsibility of the person who was cancelling his account to setup the UPS shipback boxes for the customer.

In this day and age the customer is punished and the big corps get away with murder with no legal recourse, its not right. What happend to the companys fighting to get and keep customers? Now they just lie to rope you into a contract only to not honor their side then expect you to honor yours. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. Heck, it gets even worse in some area's where these companys have sorta a monopoly on your entertainment services.

We have these companys laying off millions of US Citizens and outsourcing departments to other countries to save money, while hurting our economy and putting more family's into a rough spot.. Then we have then lieing, cheating, and stealing in whichever manor they see fit.. and they mostly get away with it. These companys are getting too greedy and concerned about the bottomline and could careless about the customers or their quality of service. The people of this nation have done it once and one day shall do it again, but its time to take a stand against bad businesses with bad practices.

#2 UPDATE Employee

You agreed to it.

AUTHOR: Mattfast1 - (U.S.A.)

When Dish Network leases equipment to you (as is most often done), you "agree to return your equipment within 15 days of downgrading service below the minimum (as specified by the promotion), deactivating your receiver, or disconnection of your service. ANY APPLICABLE UNRETURNED EQUIPMENT FEES WILL BE CHARGED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD." This is a statement (well, close enough to it, anyway) that all Dish Network sales agents, Customer Service Representatives (CSRs), and Technical Service Representatives (TSRs) are REQUIRED to read when leasing equipment to you, and you MUST verbally agree to these terms before getting into a situation where you are leasing equipment from us.

Also, section 5b of the Residential Service Agreement (a document that is provided to you at the time of activation, and is also available in every user manual printed for our receivers, on Chan. 100 of all receivers, and available at Dish Network's website) states "Upon termination of your Services, you must notify our Customer Service Center or call the telephone number set forth in the customer agreement(s) applicable to the lease promotion(s) pursuant to which you are leasing the applicable Equipment to schedule the return of your leased Equipment."

If you don't agree to be bound by such terms, don't agree to them. If you do agree, you can't come back later and complain about the terms just because they were actually carried out.
