I would like all loyal dish tv customers to contact dish and find out why they are offering better deals to new customers. These deals are not available to old loyal customers.

There packages have went down in price, and they are giving free hd tv for life to new customers.  When i inquired about getting hd for life added to my account they would charge me $100 dollars.  My package price has went down too but, not for me.

I was told that this offer is not for old customers.  We would be charged for the same new hd receiver, that they get for free.  I told them i would close my account
and open a new one to get the same deal every new customer was getting.  I was informed that they would know i was an old customer.

I have had dish tv for 12 years or more, and this is how they treat there loyal customers.  I have had it with them. Please people call them and let them know how unfair this practice of doing business is..

I will be checking in with direct tv. I urge you to do the same...

Hello there! My name is Dan Busa with DISH Network's customer service

AUTHOR: DanB@Dish Network - (USA)

Hello there! My name is Dan Busa with DISH Network's customer service department. I would like to offer some feedback on this topic, the new customer promotion consists of two things that are only available to new customers the first is $15 dollars off a month for the first year the second would be free installation and activation. Every customer is offerredthe new customer promotion once per lifetime of their account. Most ofour older customers are eligible for the same promotions our newer customers are offerred like equipment upgrades, or hd free for life. I understand it seems unfair but if you think about it from this perspective it actually does seem fair in the future you can check out our website at www.dishnetwork.com and view any upcoming promotions.

Dish does offer HD for life

AUTHOR: Callingforward - (U.S.A.)

Been with Dish for over 10 years, have had to call a couple times to get price reduced a few times...still like them better than anyone else in the area

Got HD service shortly after they began to offer it

Then checked on the HD for life from a tv ad

It is available to anyone with HD Dish service

All you have to do is be on their automatic bill pay and commit to not leaving for 2 years

or

Pay a $99 fee.

I've been on automatic billing for over 5 years so I automatically qualified for the HD for life service

From their site:

How Can I Get HD For Life?

Option 1: 24-Month Commitment with AutoPay and Paperless Billing

  • You provide a 24 month commitment (with a prorated $240 cancellation fee

if you disconnect your DISH account prior to the end of your commitment)
  • You have and keep your DISH account on AutoPay. When you first sign up for AutoPay, we require payment for any balance on your account in order to make your AutoPay status effective immediately.
  • You have and keep your DISH account on Paperless Billing. With Paperless Billing, you can always see your exact same statement on dish.com/mybill and you will receive an email reminder each month when your new statement is ready to be viewed.

Option 2: One-Time Non-Refundable $99 Payment

  • You pay a one-time non-refundable $99 HD programming upgrade fee.

My strategy

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

Once I sign up for a TV service I keep track of the length of my obligation.  Once it's satisfied I watch for really good promotions and when I see one I like enough I call my current provider and tell them I'm going to switch unless I get their current promotion.

If they won't give it to me, I call the other one and just switch and take advantage of their promotion.  They are all similar enough to me that it doesn't matter to me which one I use. I'm not hooked on any channels that aren't common.

As far as movies, I don't subscribe to any movie channels.  I just use Netflix and Roku and have all the movies I can stand.

Anyway, this has been working for me.

why should long time customers get the shaft!

AUTHOR: TIRED OF GETTING THE SHAFT - (USA)

I  understand a small discount to get your programing started, like for the first year. I just dont think that its fair that they dont offer their loyal customers free hd for life. Since we have been a customer for 15 plus years we will be paying $100  if we want hd tv.  That seems ok?  That is punishing the long time customer who has given them thousands of dollars.  A new customer has it for life, FOR FREE, just for signing up for a two year contract.  Even if i signed up for a two year contract they will not give it to me for free.

Apples and oranges

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

So the fact that it takes two years to make money on a new customer entitles them to use deceit to get money from others?  Where did you get this information anyway?

If making money is more important than customer service, which should be equally important, then it is a bad business.  Making money is one thing, cheating and trickery is another.

The OP was planning on spending money, just not getting ripped off.

Reality Check

AUTHOR: Hardtofoolme - (U.S.A.)

Businesses want to make money.

With all the discounts, installer pay etc...  It takes ONE TO TWO YEARS for satellite or even cable companies to make a profit on NEW customers.

If these companies kept giving the same specials to old customers they would be out of business, how would you watch tv then?  On an antennea?

Come on people things cost money.  Overhead etc.

The problem is that I don't know of any satellite service provider that is not like this..

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

They all seem to have turned into monsters.  They don't care about the customer and also employ deceitful ways to con people out of money.  You can't even buy your own equipment and just rent their service.  They want to lease you new equipment.

Where are the hackers that used to break the scramble codes on the old c-band systems?

I stayed with cable because there is no contract and less hassles.  I will never go back to them until they start treating people better.  My telephone company offered a bundle package with TV, high speed internet, and telephone but I refused when I found out the TV was with one of the satellite providers that are even worse than Dish.  When I was a kid the TV service was free.  Those days are gone for good I guess.

Business practices are dishonest, misrepresented, deceitful and bordering on being illegal

AUTHOR: Randy f - (U.S.A.)

I have been a customer or Dish for over 10 years and have experienced price increases each year. Approximately 1 year ago I called to disconnect my service as I felt it was no longer a good value for the money. At that time I was offered discounts to retain my business. I have the Top 200 with 3 TVs, no premium channels and my bill was increased  100% in just this last month (increased from $45 per month to $90 per month). I have called the retention department and spoke with an Ivan Magdaleno (720-514-8555 ext 80579) and another retention agent by the name of Luis (agent sign X4W). The only resolution they are willing to give is reducing my programming to lower the cost (which would be their very lowest package and no local channels) even at that the cost of their service would be over $50.00, and the company no longer gives discounts to retain customers.  When I requested to speak with the customer service manager, Megan Roschelli, I was told by 1 agent she was out of the office and expected to return the following day. I was also told by 2 other agents there was no such person in the Dish network. I finally verified she is in fact a manager however will not take any calls. Dish network has no idea what customer service is, and should be renamed customer disservice department. My last conversation with a representative stated that I am in fact under contract and if I do choose to disconnect, I will be charged a penalty and early disconnect fee. When I questioned if I am in fact under contract, how can Dish arbitrarily increase my bill 100%, if I am under contract does that not protect me as a consumer during the duration of that contract to prevent such increases? I believe their business practices are dishonest, misrepresented, deceitful and bordering on being illegal. The last customer disservice representative took my name and number and stated someone would call me back within 48 hours. Well it now been almost a week and I have not received a call. Do yourself a favor if thinking of employing Dish Network and spend your money with a company that actually appreciates your business and longevity.  Dish could care less if you are a customer and makes you jump thru too many hoops. You are nothing but an insignificant cog in their big machine. There are too many other places you can spend your money.
