Was contacted by letter stating an overdue bill in a spacifice amount. Was not able to pay bill by electronic transfer, ended up doing so by check. Paid the bill in full by the amount shown on notification. A week later the calls started again. Persons I spoke to say that was only a "payment" of a larger amount owed. Was told "apperently" the bill was more than stated. Could not tell me why I was notified of a smaller amount. Gave me the runaround till it now seems nothing can be done.
They were VERY persistant in obtaining credit or debit card information. My question is, if the bill was paid in full by notification, where did the extra amount owed come from and why did they refuse to provided proof of obligation. I am now stuck with this on my credit report for the next 5 years as I refuse to be fleeced for any amount.
