Sometimes the kid and his friends will order from Domino's and I know that when you place a normal order from them there is no delivery fee (there's no tip either from me, ever). The driver knew the pay risks of the job when (s)he took it. That driver does nothing above and beyond what any other driver does to warrant a tip.
This delivery fee came up simply because they were mad that I took them up on the offer for a free pizza without ordering more of their crap.
So the pizza came and I made my kid go to the door. When the door opened, I heard my kid drop the change all over my hardwood floor. He took the pizza, placed it on the table and started picking up the change, handing it to her as he went. I was about to die laughing and was afraid she would hear me. She finally said that was okay and she left.
I went to pick up the change from the floor she didn't wait on, and it amounted to $.96. I'm glad he mostly went after the pennies and nickels first, all she got to walk out with was $.68. I couldn't have planned that one better myself.
I guess that $1.64 wasn't worth it to her if she had to jump through a hoop to get it. She would've got the rest of it if she would've waited, it's not his fault he couldn't hold a big handful of change and open a doorknob and a couple of deadbolts (teenagers are clumsy).
They ripped me off big time. They should've said carryout only or some such other nonsense on that coupon if they were worried about a delivery charge. Or minimum order required. They had their chance to get out of bringing an absolutely free pizza to me, but I guess that coupon would've wound up in the trash with the rest of them if they could've resisted promising me something for free.

I Used to Deliver Pizza's
AUTHOR: Whistleblower - (Canada)
SUBMITTED: Sunday, April 05, 2009
POSTED: Sunday, April 05, 2009You also mention that you don't tip delivery drivers. What if you were working that kind of job for minimum wage and depended on tips to earn a sustainable living? I used to deliver pizza, put wear and tear on my own vehicle, I realy cherished the tips that I received. I was a real heart breaker for the few people who did not tip me.
This web site is for people who have truly been vicitmized by scams or have been treated badly by bad business preactices, not for people who want to wine and complain about pointless things.

What a RIPOFF!
AUTHOR: Jeff - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, March 13, 2009
POSTED: Friday, March 13, 2009Boy, you really showed em, huh? How shrewd of you to RIPOFF a delivery person, who's at least working a job instead of sitting on their fat ass, while their kid is whining for food. Way to show off those finely-honed parenting skills!
You bitch about a $1.65 delivery charge, brag about not ever giving a tip, allow your kid to inadvertently screw the delivery person out of $0.96, and you have the stones to claim YOU'VE been ripped off? I really pity your kid.
This is almost as bad as your whinning about how McDonald's "ripped you off."

About delivery charge
AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, December 03, 2008
POSTED: Wednesday, December 03, 2008I am going to explain to everyone.
First, the franchisee can implement what amount of charge they want.
The coupon said free pizza but look at the coupon for limitations.
There is a delivery charge which, not only Dominos, but most places do have.
Second, the drivers get a reimbursement which could be $1 - $1.25. Thats not enough for the drivers but that is how it is.
Third, Dominos, and the other Big Giants are stock companies, it mentions on the boxes as well as commercials.
If it mentioned c/o then that would be what it is.
What I do is explain to customers on this
"Your total with tax and delivery charge, not including the driver is"
I am not forcing customers to tip, not making a threat, not saying you must tip.
You have the right, therefore if you feel your not getting and granted the services, don't blame it on the drivers.
The drivers are doing their jobs, the franchise owner is going along with the company.
Lets say the customer calls back and orders additional and its a credit card, then the customer can add that on to their charge with their authorization or they can pay cash.
Now, lets say if a customer calls back and reorders then usually there is a way to delete the del charge function. It depends on what stores that will do it to accomidate business with customers.
therefore, if your not happy about del ch. simply stop on by and bring in the coupon. They will be happy to accomidate the issue for you and resolve and bring matters to an end.
If you want more info on the delivery charge, google those words and you will see.
Hope this explains well.

Delivery Fee
AUTHOR: Bennie - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, September 26, 2008
POSTED: Friday, September 26, 2008As for tipping, that is completely up to you whether you do or not because many other people do because they appreciate us bring a hot, fresh pizza to their door in a timely, and friendly fashion. Also, as a driver, I really do live off my tips, my hourly pays my car, insurance, phone and rent/utilities, my mileage pays for my gas and my wear/tear, and my tips is so I can eat, drink, ect. so please remember that before you get some smug look about "Im happy because I dont tip". You wouldnt like it if I took 10-35% of your paycheck now would you?

Delivery Fee

POSTED: Tuesday, July 29, 2008B.) My employment with Domino's is as a driver. I know pefectly well that some people won't/don't tip because of the fee. I don't like having to charge it, or deal with it myself. I don't like that the total bill is two dollars more than the coupon. I don't like doing that to a customer. However, with gas prices as they are, I do appreciate the offset from millage amount we get from the fee. It costs a lot to be a driver these days. Not to mention for some runs it's the only income we will recieve because there's a large amount of people in my delievery area that won't tip (for financial reasons, or just personal preference as this complaining consumer was bragging about).
C.) You don't seem to be aware that the delievery charge is split between gas mileage for the driver and store insurance policies to cover employees. Therefore it isn't just "lining pockets".
You are very quick to assume things and don't seem intent on actually reading comments through. Please take more time to consider what you are reading and writing before your next reply.

POSTED: Sunday, June 29, 2008Our family always picks up our own pizza to avoid superfluous charges like this, but we have friends who have adjusted their spending in the manner described above. Before, they would typically tip a delivery driver $1-2 - depending on the size of the order. Now, that particular benefit to the delivery driver sits in the pocket of the company fat cats you were defending in the form of a 'delivery charge'.
Seems to me, your so-called 'company policy' has just robbed a hard-working delivery driver of his/her tip. Care to defend that part of the deal, Alex?

What do you call the operating methods of a store that promises an absolutely free pizza with no mention of delivery fees or minimum orders, etc,? Screw that. Stay on topic here or don't comment. When that's how these corporations decide to operate, it's time they open their mouths to take some of their own medicine. And you may say I was only hurting the delivery person. I think not. I was helping her realize she was working for the wrong company, while hurting Domino's by promoting high turnover in their store.

POSTED: Thursday, April 17, 2008Tell us again about your wonderful parenting skills. Tell us again how you demonstrate your respect for your own child and others.
What a mean, nasty person you are. I can only hope that very soon your son comes to realize that the rest of the world doesn't opperate they way you do.
Hopefully, you son won't develop the disdain you seem to have for him and everyone else you come into contact with.
