All of us at Summertime Entertainment are excited to announce to our partners that we have locked a release date of May 2, 2014, for Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return.
This choice of date was the result of careful strategizing by our domestic distributor, Clarius, which consulted with many experienced industry experts to conclude it’s a perfect time for the theatrical release for a number of reasons:
- No competition from other family movies. This date falls halfway between the release of "Rio 2" on April 11 and "The Good Dinosaur" on May 30, so ours will be the only animated film in the marketplace for a solid four-week window.
- Opportunity to market in spring. A May date gives us prime opportunity for trailer advertising on multiple blockbuster Spring family and animated features. It also gives CDM (our top-tier promotional partner) time to find the highest caliber partners and execute well-planned and lucrative agreements.
CDM has a proven track record of more than 20 years that includes hundreds of partnerships and licensing deals for many established brands. CDM will bring its leadership and creative inspiration to help "Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” reach its promotional marketing objectives.
With an award-winning design studio and global-sourcing group, it will leverage the family brand. The company has worked with some of the most successful and recognized consumer brands in the world: Sony, Coca-Cola and Gerber, as well as two of the world’s biggest entertainment companies: DreamWorks and Disney.
