This is regarding book publishing contracts that I have signed with Redlead Press it's an Imprint of Dorrance Publishing Company. I have published eight books with Redlead Press in the amount of $295.00 last years and each book were an contract; now on the contact they stated that they could cancel out the contract after 6 months prior to the completion of the work and which I thought why would they want to cancel an author book publishing contract after 6 months, but as usual when you are new author with self-publishing book companies there could be some other things that we don't know about the publisher unto now when reality hits me. Just to say I was excited about publishing my books with them because I found them to be the cheapest way for authors that want to pubish their books. In the year of 2012 I have published a total of 8 books; keep in mind this is only just a year worth of paying for books the total amount I spent on publishing books was $2,360.00 and that's alot of money. All of the suddenly in past November 2012 I have received from Redlead Press/Dorrance Publishing that five of my book contracts were going to be terminated on December 29, 2012 and I felt like an fool because my books were barely on there bookstore for a year; I felt like I have been ripoff by this publisher and it came to mind that I believe that they have done this to alot of new Authors; by having them thinking that they have accomplished something by paying $295.00 out my pocket and then all of the suddenly they terminated and cancelled five of my books without a cause and no reason. I believe that Dorrance Publishing and their imprints are taking advantage of authors that published their books through them; and take authors for a ride for their money and a few months later cancel the contracts; that sounds like garbage. And, then the terminated contracts it says that my books would be removed from their bookstore website; and guess what I checked their bookstore website and my books are still available for purchasing and amazon as well, and I would no longer receive royalties from sales of the terminated books through Redlead Press; so what comes to mind who would be receiving the royalties of those book sales if I'm no longer making the royalties and then top it off Dorrance Publishing take 70% of author royalties; if this makes sense authors won't barely make a penny; and especially if the books are selling less than 100 copies. I'm really upset and lost out on money with this Publisher; never again would I signed contracts with book publishers; I don't trust book publishers; there are too many publishers ripping off authors. Every author want to see their work in print and receive fair royalties and sales of their books; this is like a dream come true for most authors and for book publishers to mess up the author's accomplishment of the book they created; this is a shame. This is a long story about Dorrance Publishing and I want to tell other authors don't invest your money with this particular publisher and be careful about contracts with book publishers; take a deeper investigative look into these book publishers because believe or not they don't care about your dreams coming true; they just really want your money. I hope that my story get the attention of other authors and help them so that they won't be disappointed. I thought that Dorrance Publishing was a good and honest publisher, but just because they been around for 80 years or more doesn't make them an honest book publishing company.

I am so sorry to hear of your unhappiness with Red Lead Press. We did indeed terminate some titles this past November, after reviewing our book sales, that had little to no activity. If you feel your books were not given long enough time on our list, let us know, and we'll happily reinstate them. We want you to be happy with your publishing experience. You don't list your name on the complaint, so I'm not able to contact you directly. Please email me via info@dorrancepublishing.com and we can go from there.
You are correct that we are a reputable publishing services company, and I want to be sure we do right by you. I hope to be of service.
