Nepotism at The University of New Mexico is at it again.

Once again the people in power at The University of New Mexico think that the rules dont apply to them. Dorrie Murray is the Program Manager for the office of continuing medical education/CME at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine. Earlier this year Miss Murray did in fact hire and is the direct supervisor over her own nephew. I have worked for the University of New Mexico for over fifteen years, and have seen many rules bent and even broken in my tenure at the University. I also work in a department that works very close with the office of continuing medical education. This has been the worst kept secret I have ever seen in fifteen years at University even more so when her nephew keeps telling people that he is now full time employ of Miss Murray department we all know that they are related. Miss Murray has also worked for the University of New Mexico for longer then I. [continued below]....
..... Miss Murray is very aware of the Nepotism policy at the University of New Mexico. After Dr. David Schmidly controversy, we all know the policy, but for those of you who dont know this it is. Policy 3210 7.2 (Recruitment and Hiring) of the University Business Policies and Procedures Manual (UBPPM) that includes, Hiring officers may not hire or supervise a family member or a family member of a line supervisor
without the advance approval of the President. Also, please refer to Policy C30 2 (Employment of Relatives) of the University of New Mexico Faculty Handbook (Faculty Handbook) that includes, No supervisor may employ or appoint a member of his immediate family. A supervisor may not employ or appoint a member of the immediate family of any of his line superiors without the advance approval of the President. The University cannot be assured that fair value is received in cases of nepotism and scenarios of nepotism can result in morale problems that can reduce productivity. This was brought to the attention of the administration, and nothing was done about it? I also talked to the people at the Daily Lobo, still nothing? I think that what is making me angry about this whole Nepotism thing is that The University of New Mexico just had to raise the tuition on all the students.

As a single mother I cant even afford to send my two children to the school Were I am working, but it has a plenty of money to employ Dorrie Murrays nephew??

Nepotism at The University of New Mexico is at it again

Its such a shame. Anyone who knows any of the current or former CME staff, is aware that those poor employees dont have a voice, unless they are one of the favorites. Any complaints submitted about Dorrie, have always been ignored, swept under the rug, or merely made an excuse for.Shedoes well at keeping under the radar, but the employees are truly victims of her bullying, favoritism, lack of adherence to policies and superior attitude. Unless you are one of her cronies, employees are treated with disrespect, rudeness and unprofessionalism. She is one person who has no business supervising others and should be under close supervision herself. It is unfortunate that people have to go through a site like Rip off Report to be heard. Im sure current and former employees of CME have lots to tell about their experiences working with Dorrie and as an employee at CME, Thus, her need to surround herself with friends and family, I suppose.

This is no surprise, considering that Ellen M. Cosgrove, M.D. was once the head of this department.

She was the most egotistical and vindictive person that I ever had the displeasure to work with. She ran departments under her supervision like her own private kingdom, and god forbid if you got sideways with her, even if you were right, you were wrong! Now this Dorrie Murray person was probably not even qualified for even the position that she is in.

Dr. Cosgrove was famous for this, because this way they were easy to manipulate or just plain bully into getting what she wanted, UNM needs to do one of two things with Dorrie Murray. 1. Ask her to resign from the position as Program Manager for the office of continuing medical education/CME at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine. 2. or just be relieved of the position, on the grounds of breaking the policies of the University of New Mexico.
