Dr. James O'Brian Nearly killed me! Caused me to be crippled with Chronic Osteomyelitis! He should have his license revoked. Rogersville, Alabama

Sept. 21, 1996, while riding with my then boyfriend on the Trail of Tears, an impatient young man pulled out of a medium and struck the Harley we were riding...actually hitting my left foot.  Intense pain!  We hit left-over concrete in the medium from recent road construction (making a new turning lane on Hwy 72E to Baker Lane in Tuscumbia, AL). We were airborne and into a skid before we knew what had happened...
I knew nothing about the doctors on call or that I had managed, by luck of the draw, picked a known alcoholic and drug user as my Orthopedic surgeon.  I was told that  Dr. O'Brian was on call and asked if that Dr. was ok by me.  I had been laying on the bed in the ER from 11:20 AM...he arrived this particularly Saturday around 1:00pm. (incidentally, protocol on a compound fracture is debridement within the first 45 minutes...)  My friend went into surgery first...I had yet to be given anything for pain.  A friend, that was also a nurse and my teenage daughter arrived shortly before my boyfriend was taken into surgery.  He was screaming and crying terribly.  My girlfriend and daughter had had enough and demanded the nurses give me something for pain...which they did during a commercial break of their Soap Opera they were watching. I could not see my knee other than it looked like I was growing grass from it. Ultimately, I found out he did not properly debride the knee and after releasing me to return to work within a month...(I was a cosmetologist)sli.  He could not explain to me why my knee was locked so I was unable to move it beyond straight out or to bend it slightly toward myself. It was locked up...red, swollen, hot to the touch...I am no doctor...but...sounded infected to me...it was doing fine per him.  I worked for 6 months in agony.  Finally, my then boyfriend, decided he had had enough with his injury that wasn't healing and we both went to Birmingham for a second opinion.  Ultimately, I had 17 foreign objects (dirt, grass, rock, etc. as well as the end of my femur bone that had broken off...removed and was put on a high dose of Cipro.  I had Psuedomonis and Osteomyelitis infections in the bone of my right leg. I could no longer work, filed for disability and have become, ultimately, someone that I do not know.  Prior to the accident, I frequented the gym for weight lifting, I ran...I was very involved in my children's activities and the community's.  I  am a shell of who and what I ONCE WAS!!!  Please check your doctor's as wisely as you can...BEWARE, having that title does not a DOCTOR make!!!  Oh, I also found out after the fact that the hospital we were at was the last one in the area still allowing him to practice ....but not now.  He has moved about 45 minutes away to Athens Hospital and I have heard Rogersville and also Decatur...I have no idea where he is butchering people now!!!  But if you hear his name...RUN, BABY, RUN...while you still can!
