I went to Alliance Urgent Care in Gilbert, AZ this morning for myself and my son to be seen. Dr. Nicholas Williams was sitting at the front desk while I was filling out paperwork, and the staff was trying to verify my insurance. He asked me what we were being seen for, so I told him our symptoms. Without asking me anything further about our medical history, if my son was running a fever, and so on, he rudely stated that we had a cold just like 50% of the people in Phoenix, and that I was going through all of this hassle for a common cold.
Keep in mind that he is giving me medical advice in the waiting room! I'm not an idiot, or the type of mother that takes her child to the doctor for every little runny nose. I was so angered by his unprofessional advice that I left before even paying my co-pay. I will take my son to his Pediatrician in the morning and discuss this with her. If he ends up having anything other than a common cold, this complaint will go further.

I can not believe this jerk. He came into the room, well, he opened the door and never let go of the door handle. Told me my medical history was irrelevant, which I was perplexed since that is why I was there. I informed him that it is relevant, since this is why I am here. He had such a pompous, arrogant attitude (he even rolled his eyes)- then told me I needed to see a specialist. I asked if he can refer me to one and he told me I needed to do that on my own time, since he's too busy. Wrote me a script for 3 pills, thanks a lot. So glad I waited 2 hours to meet the biggest jerk I have ever come across, and all it took was 5 minutes.

When you have a cold, it's really pointless going to the DR.....there really isn't anything for the common cold other than rest, drink plenty of liquids and Tylenol/Aspirin.....

The doctor probably had a quirky sense of humor and was trying to be witty, charming and bright.
He definitely did not have a good professional demeanor and was probably one of those yuppies with the glassy looking "dead fish eyes" the regard all of their patients as subhuman germs underneath a microscope...
These guys are just in medicine just for the money...
IF he was an older guy, he was probably just having a bad day.
Since I didn't see the incident or hear the precise inflection in the physician's remarks, I am not sure how he meant it.
Maybe he was just trying to make conversation...
Maybe he has just seen too many hysterical yuppie soccer moms who get hysterical every time their spawn has any problem!
