My son (25) battles depression. He went to Dr Lucas for help.  After a short one on one.... he prescribed him Xanax with a 6 month refill.  Since his visit, my son has withdrawn from society, sleeps alot, memory loss, rages, no motivation....  He is so mellowed out, he doesn't care about anything.  He has distanced himself from all of his family.  I contacted his office by phone and certified mail to notify them of my concerns and asked that he PLEASE do another evaluation before allowing another refill.  Dr Lucas allowed a refill... no questions asked and continues to allow one.  It has been 7 months since he prescribed him Xanax and hasn't required an evaluation or responded that he appreciates my concerns.

Do NOT send your child or recommend Dr Lucas.  Obviously he only cares about the money not the patient.  These symptons / side affects should have raised concern/care for the patient but it didn't. I understand my son is not a minor and they can't share information with me but they can listen to my concerns and address them with the patient.  Mental Illness is not a illness to brush under the rug which is what Dr Lucas and his staff has done.

Dr. Lucas is over medicating my brother too!

AUTHOR: Mashell - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, March 15, 2018

I agree with the mom who posted this original complaint. Dr. Lucas has been treating my brother for over 5 years and has done nothing but turn him into a Drug addicted zombie. He has lost his family, his job, his pets. Had been taken to the hospital countless times. Just spent nearly 3 months in jail for driving under the influence (not alcohol but good ol Clonazepam). He has completely distanced himself from his family. Dr. Lucas has prescribed him heavy narcotics, one on top of the other and we have totally lost my brother.

The drug addiction has led my brother to crushing the pills and snorting them so the high was quicker. That wasn’t enough so he started "huffing.” I personally have walked in on my brother in near death overdose situations and i beg any lawyer who reads this to contact me as to how to stop this madness. I actually went to an appointment with my brother one time because he was so messed up he could hardly walk. I was shocked at what i saw.

My brother needs to be hospitalized and Dr. Lucas just soles out more meds. There was zero consultation. I even asked him, "could you help me understand this process... is there at any point you talk to my brother to learn the root of his problem?” He said no, he prescribes medicines but there are other people in his office that do that. Not once has he sent him to someone to talk. This is ludicrous. I have horrific photos of the dozens of pill bottles that he has prescribed, laid out, messed up because my brother gets confused.

I have photos of a board laying across his bed with crushed pills and a straw. There is no reason for someone to take clomazapan, Xanax and ambien all at once. And I have no idea what the other 8 or 9 pills are for. Dr. Lucas may be good for some, but please do not judge those on here who he is destroying. Not everyone should be treated with a dozen narcotics. I’m an angry sister because i live in fear every day that my brother is going to die of an overdose.

Moronic Mom

AUTHOR: TimTaylor - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, February 04, 2017

I am and have been a patient with Dr. Lucas for five years. I have a type of mental illness that most doctors haven't even seen before. I've had it since I was 9. I have spent four months in inpatient hospitals and I am only in my early 20's. I have seen countless doctors, most of whom gave up on me. Dr. Lucas truly cares and is the only psychiatrist I've met in 15 years that has. Or at least about someone as extreme as me.

This lady is simply idiotic. Her son is an adult. Legally Dr. Lucas CANNOT do almost anything. This lady is oblivious to that. He can't force him to do a thing and neither can she. I'm willing to bet money that her son didn't follow up. It was not Dr. Lucas. Just based on this entire dramatic report that her son doesn't talk to her enough and demands doctors to look at her grown son, I'm willing to also bet a lot of his problems are from her. With HIPPA, she might not be able to talk to Dr. Lucas in the first place. LEGALLY.

Please ignore this poor woman's sad excuse for a "report". She hasn't even met him! And yet he's bad enough to write a report because he's not doing what her son obviously doesn't want.

Happy with the great Doctor

I agree with the first rebuttal. Dr. Lucas is a fantastic Doctor. He's been there for me for 3 years, through multiple hospital stays and suicide attempts. There is not one drug that can fix everyone and if I ever tell him that I don't want a medication or that one I'm on isn't working, he changes it. He never overmedicates me. When I told him that I don't want Xanax, he told me that was fine and gave other options. He also listens. He will sit with me for 20 or more minutes, unlike most psychiatrists. He also prescribes me Nudexta, which is the only medication that works to make my night terrors bareable. The prescription costs over $600 a month, but they even help me with the paperwork to get my medication for free. He asks me about how I'm doing in Nursing school. He even recommended the school I'm attending. I have PTSD, Bipolar2, and Dissocitative amnesia due to a traumatic life. My mom use to see him and when I had questions about her, I called his cell phone and he either answered or got back to me immediately. He can't control someone from abusing their medication, but I do know that he will not over prescribe. Perhaps you should consider an intervention and couseling instead of blaming a good doctor for your son's addiction. I know that since seeing him, I have never felt better. I do have my down moments, but that's when couseling comes into play and utilizing coping skills that are learned. I seriously hope that by now you've woken up and realized that Dr. Lucas is not the problem. Stop enabling.

You.dont.have.a.clue What our family has been through trying to help our son be a functional, responsible, healthy adult.  What works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone!  So you can stick your "mommy" comment up your a*s! A caring loving family is there for each other no matter if they're 5...25... Or 75!  if you had family values .... You would understand.  Obviously you dont !  Actually sounds like you work for Dr Lucas.  There are others out there that have been over medicated by Dr Lucas.  Keep researching.... You'll read their story too.  So before you criticize a family trying to save their son's life.... Have a heart and realize mental illness affects the whole family... not just the patient.  God bless you and may you educate yourself before you criticize a Mothers love trying to save her son from a "pill Dr".  Better yet.... You take .5 mg of Xanax 4 times a day.... See how you function!

Good doctor

I just read the comment from the mother of the person who she claims her son is doped up and not receiving any feedback from Dr. Lucas. I am a current patient and am very satisfied with the service that I get. I see him regularly and have never had any problems. You said your son is not a minor...THAT is why you are not receiving any responses from the office. You are in no way qualified to request any evaluation and have the office follow through. It is up to your son to follow up with the doctor. Xanax is a very common prescription anyway. You can't 'mommy' this until you get the result YOU desire. Your son has to do it for himself.
