I am an aspiring actress who had seen an ad on craigslist from Dream Makers Studios seeking an ad banner model whoever they chose would recieve $1500.I sent them my picture immediately and to my surprise within the hour recieved a response they said they were interested in working with me and gave me a date and time to come and audition.I was a little suspicious at how fast the response had been but at the time I was so excited to have been picked it didn't really cross my mind. I told my mother and she was rightfully suspicious she told me to do my research and make sure that this place was legit. As the sad truth about the modeling and acting world is that there are scams like this one everywhere.I looked them up on Google and I didn't find much they have done local commercials and they also had a Facebook and a Youtube channel and I felt like this was enough to validate them as legit. I reported to my mom of my findings and she was still not sold on the idea of taking me to this audition she looked up the location and pointed it out that it was a shabby looking building in the center of a bakery and car shop it was a really disapointing sight google map the location and you will understand what I mean.To add on to that my mom said she had sent a fake email to Dream Makers Studio with NO picture and they automatically told her the exact same thing they told me about how interested they were in working with her so this is when I realized the audition wasn't as exclusive as it appeared to be. But I still didn't care or at this point was in denial. So my mom reluctantly took me on an eight hour trip to St Petersburg the city was actually nice to look at.Too bad I can't say the same for Dream Makers Studios its shabbier in person. Going in I was hoping it was one of those situations where you don't judge the book by its cover but it was equally bad if not worse inside the building. There was a very worn couch and some white lawn chairs for seating arrangements the carpet was stained and their was this strange unpleasant odor like a nursery. The lady at the front desk was very nice though and gave me a questionaire to fill out that had questions like why I was interested in modeling and acting and was I interested in classes I gave her a unwrapped childrens toy for charity because that was what they had asked for it wasn't a requirement and if you do they email you a picture from the test shots. I also received a list of rules that you had to follow one being not complaining about Dream Makers Studios lol. After a bit of waiting your moved into a bigger room with even more lawn chairs.Something I noticed was that there was alot of old toys in this room and I couldn't help but wonder if the toy I had brought was really going to charity. At the front of the room was a small stage where someone will interview you at a desk. When my name was called I answered questions about why I wanted to be an actor and why I chose Dream Makers Studios the interviewer was also nice. Than I was taken to the backroom where the "photo shoot" begins the photographer looked a little tired and unhappy to be there and her negativity kind of through me off. But I waited for the direction that a professional photographer gives their subject she blankly looked at me and said pose.I looked at her confused and attempted a few awkward poses with little help on what to do.Once we were done I left as fast as I could already disapointed with my experience.A few weeks later I receieved a call from Dream Makers Studio that I had been one of the few lucky participants chosen to do a photo shoot for the themes sporty casual and formal all i had to do was pay 90.00 and bring my OWN clothes this is when reality finally sunk in if.I'm going to be paying $90.00 for a photo shoot shouldn't there be clothes for me to wear. At this point my balloon of hope was deflated I feigned enthusiasm to the overexcited lady on the phone and said I would call them back to make my descion about paying for the photoshoot but when I hung up the phone I knew I was done with them.Just like a salesperson they were a s nice as they could be so that they could take your money. They said the winner of the competition would be chosen by the end of 2012 but it wasn't until July 25th of this year that they announced the winner on Facebook and they don't even have a picture. Anyway I'm writing this so people will know what to expect if they decide to this and not get there hopes up.
