Recieved a puppy from this man unknowing that it was in the final stages of parvovirus. It was ina kennel with atleast 10 other puppies, whom likely have it as well. His contract states no refunds or exchanges for puppies with parvovirus. He has atleast 50 adult great danes on his property, along with about 10 litters of puppies between newborn and 6 weeks old. He has kennels for them that are all over his property, not big enough inside to kennel more than one great dane, and he has 2 or 3 in every kennel. Kennels are full of mud which is normalk for WA, but no heat for these puppies, or adults. Puts down puppies he can not sell after so long. Be warned about this breeder. Local rescue groups have told me they are very familiar with this puppy mill. We need to put a stop to this!

Happy Dane Parents

AUTHOR: Doreen - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, June 21, 2018

We got a dane puppy from Dreamcatcher a little over a month ago and we could not be happier.  We have had 2 dogs at a time over a couple of decades.  They are our kids, spoiled rotten, sleep in our bed, eat the best dog food and have crazy amounts of toys to keep them entertained.  This is our first Dane and we did a lot of research on the breed, their needs and different breeders over the last couple of years.  Several of them were show dog breeders that were extremely "stuck-up" and with their attitudes made us feel like we were not good enough for their puppies.  When we found Dreamcatcher Great Danes and Wayne, we were at little leary due to some on the reviews on this site.  Considering the kind of website ripoffreport.com is, we took a chance and visited Wayne and his dogs, and we are glad we did.  Wayne was very open and forthcoming about is dogs and himself.  He answered all of our questions (and boy did we have a lot) straight forward, including questions about reviews on this site.

On our first visit we spent a couple of hours with the litter we were looking to pick a puppy from and their mom.  Wayne sat with us and told us all the good and bad about owning Danes.  He has owned and been breeding Danes for a long time and is a wealth of knowledge.  We ended up putting a deposit on a puppy that day, she was 5 days old and the wait to bring her home seemed to be forever.  We were able to visit our puppy frequently, so she got used to us and was able to bond with us.

During each of our visits I also visited all of Wayne's other dogs.  He has quit a few (maybe around 20), they are all giant lovebugs and anybody who spends a little bit of time with Wayne can tell that he loves all of his dogs.  A lot of breeders will breed their females, and ones they got their profits and don't need the females anymore, they sell them.  Wayne keeps his girls for their lifetime even when they are done breeding.  Yes, most of his dogs are kept in dog runs outside, but these kennels are huge (according to Wayne 100x40 feet).  There is plenty of room for the dogs to run.  There are a couple of dogs per dog run to keep each other company.  And yes, we are in Washington, so when it rains, there is mud, but each dog run has a spacious dog house with a thick layer of bedding to give the dogs cover and keep them warm.  Wayne feeds his dogs raw meat, a good quality dry dog food, the puppies also get fresh milk from his cows, and they have plenty of water.  He also moves them to a different dog run frequently so they get a change of scenery.

We visited weekly for a couple of hours, and each time we were there, I visited every single dog, gave them treats and loved on them, and non of the dogs were aggressive, quiet the contrary.  When we first got there, they would bark a little - isn't that what dogs do?  However, anybody who knows dogs would be able to tell right away that they are just saying hi and they are in no way threatening or intimdating.  I actually wonder about the person who wrote the review I'm responding to?  What person is afraid of a puppy they got and how did you raise this puppy that you have to be afraid of it?  Also, what proper dog owner would even think to leave their dog behind when out camping??? I have had large dogs my whole live, they are part of my family for their lifetime and not once would I even think to leave my dog behind in the woods, the wild or anywhere else for that matter.  We have had our new puppy from Dreamcathcer for 6 weeks now and she has never shown any aggression.  She plays with our other dog (a rambunctious 2 year old lab) lika any puppy would, and using the same training we used with all of our other dogs she already knows h*o to sit, come and is almost fully potty trained at 12 weeks.

I can definitely say that I would recommend Dream Catcher Great Danes to my friends and family (I actually recommended them to somebody just yesterday) and I can say with confidence that Dreamcatcher Great Danes is not a puppy mill.  While we where there, finally picking up our girl, there was another customer picking up their puppy.  That person had a dog from Wayne previously and was back to get another.  Their previous Dane from Dreamcatcher did great and made it to the great age of 10 years.

I have dealt with a lot of dog breeders during my life time and Wayne by far has been the most open and straight forward. A lot of breeders take personal checks and do not do checks on who buys their puppies, but maybe he should start, to prevent his puppies from going to people who can't handle them and would leave them behind while camping???

Wayne is a chip of the old block and a little unconventinal, but I enjoyed him tremendously as a person.  I will be going back in a few weeks just to visit.  If you are considering getting a Dane puppy and are not afraid of a little bit of mud on a working farm when it is raining, I can only recommend Dreamcatcher.

Dreamcatcher Danes is not a puppy mill

AUTHOR: Traci - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 19, 2014

I bought a 14 week old great Dane from Dreamcatcher a few weeks ago.  She is beautiful and is doing great.  We have also purchased a 2nd little girl from there.  She is much older.  If Wayne puts down his older danes why is he selling her...the oldest one left in the litter that can be really difficult to sell when she is so much older?

I would also like to add that we constantly travel.  Wayne cautioned us that that the puppy we originally wanted to purchase was younger and had not had her last set of shots yet.  Which means she might not have much protection from any diseases, etc while we were traveling.  He let us know that buying a puppy that he had already given all shots to, would be a better choice because he was worried about the health and safety of a younger puppy traveling around the country.

Yes, he has a lot of dogs and for the politically correct assholes of this new modern world we live in, I'm sure that's a horrible thing.  But from what we saw when we visited, they are all healthy and thriving.  And BTW, the law says you must have dog houses or shelters for animals because that's what protects them from the elements.  That's what he has...as well as straw, etc for insulating from the heat.  Come on people....animals that are used to living outside do quite well.  As for the puppies, they are well insulated from the cold in big buildings where the floor is lined with straw and where he has HEAT LAMPS for them....

and btw...if u received a puppy in the final stages of parvo...then you're a freaking idiot...because that means it wasn't moving and was horribly deydrated and near death.  Common sense says you should pick a puppy that is healthy thriving active and happy...not one lying there not moving...this virus is a 3 day virus where it kills them pretty quick....after the 1st 24 hours they go downhill FAST.  Which means your puppy probably got it after it left there or you were too retarded to pick an animal that was healthy...sorry, but sometimes animals get sick...they can get it from people coming in on his property with parvo on their shoes, or from your stupidity of dragging it around everywhere, too early...if his property was so horrible, ALL of the animals would have gotten it, instead of a VERY small percentage that MIGHT have had it...if your version of the story is true or accurate.
