Ads all over the internet looking for entry level sports marketing people. They wanted college students with all degrees to apply for the job.

I smelled something funny when they called me on the phone and said they had reviewed by resume and they wanted to meet with me TODAY. I said that I couldn't and the "secretary" told me that tomorrow was the last possible day for interviews so I agreed to come in.

When I got there there was a nice plasma television and one secretary at the desk. Another college aged kid was there for an interview as well so I had to wait outside for my turn.

I interviewed with Bill Bishop the "CEO" of the company. He boasted about how much money he makes, and how with hard work it is so great and easy to make huge profits. He was joking around and "buddy buddy" with me. The interview lasted about 20 minutes. He then said he had a few more people to interview and then he would select 5 people to call back for a second interview.

After 1 hour, I literally had FIVE MISSED CALLS from Bill. He left a voice mail saying to call back. I called back and no one answered. The secretary called back and said "Someone from this number tried to contact us" and I said Bill had called me back and wanted a second interview. She responded "Ohhh Congratulations"

Bill then got on the phone and told me I had to come in tomorrow for the second portion of the interview but since people were coming from "far away" they had to combine the 2nd and 3rd parts of the interview into one. I would be needed from 11am-830pm. This is with no salary, no details, no nothing... he just said I would be "shadowing an account manager"

At this point I was VERY suspicious about the activity of this company. I started looking all over the internet for things about Drive Concept Marketing and Bill Bishop. The guy covers his tracks well... but not well enough.

I found out that he had another fraudulent company in Pennsylvania... and when people caught onto his scam he packed up and moved to Rocky Hill Connecticut and changed the company name. At this point I didn't even want to call the guy back to tell him I am not showing up tomorrow so I wrote an email... if he calls me tomorrow I am going to explode on the guy.

Basically he uses people as door to door salesmen and tries to manipulate college graduates with little and no experience. He makes huge promises and claims you will soon be a manager in his position making huge money. He tries to claim that he has made millions with the Yankees and golf courses to entice sports fans. This scam is all over the country under different names. Bill Bishop is a scam... stay away from him and drive concept marketing!!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Ex-employee confirming its a scam

AUTHOR: Conxious - (U.S.A.)

I worked for Bill Bishop for about a month. I unfortunately fell for the scam! You usually worked from in the early morning until around 8 at night.
He makes a map of where your supposed to go for the day, no soliciting signs your going in there anyways. I called the police called on me, and got kicked out of a few neighborhoods. Waited for college students to enter their dorms, snuck in and sold from their dorm rooms.

The day i got fed up with it, was when there was a snow storm outside. I walked myself to a near by elementary school and sat under some baseball bleachers until "my ride" for lunch came, and had them take me back to the office so i could get into my own car and go home.

i left unexpectedly and since bill was not in the office i still had the merchandise with me. He called numerous times threatening to call on the police on me for "stealing" his merchandise. I said I would bring it back when I got my money.

I never did get all of my money.

the week that you are being "trained" your supposed to get $100 or something, they keep that in their "computer".
when you move up to the next "pyramid" level the people you train, you pay them with that $100. and so on...

drive marketing does not have a license to sell these, it is illegal if you work for them.

Unless you are VERY good at selling, and like taking risks, dont take this job.

it is only selling "coupon books". for every "coupon" book you sell you get $10. and bill gets the rest of the money. which would probably be like $15 or so for every coupon book you sold.

dont wanna leave out the fact they give you $$ for your own office when you get to the top. lol

BTW: BILL lives in a s***** old apartment. one of my fellow employees had to stop by there one day to get shoes from there. if hes making so much wtf is he doing in a crap hold apartment?

DONT FALL FOR IT.

Do more research

AUTHOR: Shadow - (U.S.A.)

If you researched properly you would have learned that if you put in the hard work and spent the time and effort you can start your own business through this. Bill left PA to come to CT to fill in for Source Sports and Entertainment when the company moved to London and he left that company to some1 who had gone through the program and was able to start his own business. When u make your way through you have the oppurtunity to start your own business whether it be take over the current one and the owner moves to a new location or you take your team with you to your new location. It is not a scam you just need to make this job your life and put in the long hours and effort to get through.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

conduct "unbias" research before posting opinions

AUTHOR: Lycowarrior85 - (U.S.A.)

I am an ex-employee of Bill Bishop and Drive Marketing Concepts. I embarked on my employment at his so called "fraudulent company in Pennsylvania." However at that point when I was hired he had already relocated to aid in opening his new office in Hartford, Ct. It was under the manager he left behind that the harrisburg office began to fail and employees felt. I choose to stay because the opportunity was real.
As far was the door to door salesmen is concerned yes I went door to door as well and I represented hundreds of clients such as SEARs, the Yankees, HomeDepot, Empire Today, certa painting pros, and I can go on if I someone wanted. What this person failed to research was the entry level employees were not door to door salesmen they also rotated into retail environments and business to business environments. I guess they felt they felt their nose was to high up in the air to research that.

I must add that in my time spent working for Bill Bishop, I traveled to more locations across the United States such as San Diego, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Orlando, Fl. All of which were paid for by Bill Bishop out of his pocket. I met thousands of people from the age of 20 yrs old up to 50 yrs old, so to say he preys on college students is a bias opinion. If it weren't for Bill Bishop, Drive Marketing Concepts, and SmartCircle International I would have never been able to travel to any of those beautiful locations.

In my experiences with Bill Bishop, he has taught me more about be successful then 4 years of college did. He taught me how to set realistic goals and work each day to attain them. Also how to be responsible in finicail planning... and quaility I wished I was taught in high school. But most importantly he taught me about what most people who work 9 to 5 jobs for hourly saralries DO NOT KNOW.. the cash flow quadrant.. which has changed my outlook on who I work for and how I am paid. If someone EVER wishes to own there own business they have to let go of the word salary and embrace the word commission. Because you get paid based on the PERFORMANCE of your business.

In closing I would like to tell and smart reader that if you do not want to be an employee and want to own your own business then SmartCircle Internation is the best route to achieve that dream. And Bill is correct it is very hard, however if it were easy everyone would be doing it. Just like owning a business... if it were easy everyone would be doing it. I hope next time this person wishes to make a statement they leave there emtions at home and conduct unbias research, not tell one side of the story like a little child who just ran to mommy and daddy.

85.

Other companies involved in this scam with Smart Circle (Sports Marketing International)

AUTHOR: Legitimatecareers - (U.S.A.)

For those of you in the Chicagoland area, the Lombard brand is called Sports Marketing International or SMI and Associates. They will tell you they have "big wig" clients like the White Sox. This is NOT marketing. It is door-to-door dishonest soliciting. Dishonest to consumers and dishonest to their employees.

Please do not fall for their schemes! Sports Marketing International (SMI and Associates), and the like, prey on young, naive college graduates, servers, athletes. Sports Marketing International doesn't do a stitch of marketing consulting work for any sports teams (or any other place for that matter). This is straight up dishonest sales. If you are still working at SMI and Associates, I beg you to get out now!

Oh, and as an independant contractor (as that is how Sports Marketing International will "hire" you) you ARE required to file your sales on your taxes. The "manager" at this place (Greg) is encouraging employees at SMI and Associates to participate in illegal activities, such as soliciting in governmentally protected non-soliciting areas, and not file taxes. He is putting you in very illegal situations and manipulating you!

It is NOT normal to work long 10 hour days and no even be on the company's payroll. You are NOT your own manager (as the company tries to make you think you are), you have a sly, manipulative, fast-talking boss standing over your shoulder telling you you can't leave until you have sold all of your items!

Please, I beg you to NOT apply to this company, or anything affiliated with Doug Ascher, SmartCircle, SMI and Associates, or Sports Marketing International.
