When I went to purchased furniture in November 2010, I was having it financed through Kahuna Payment Solutions, who immediately transferred the account to Duvera Financial in Carlsbad, CA.  For 11 months, Duvera would auto debit my checking account on the due date and for the exact amount of the payment.  I monitored my credit bureau report (CBR) and saw that the final, 11th payment was never posted to my account, 2 months after the final payment was deducted from my account.

I called Duvera and was met by a very rude receptionist who did everything she cold to NOT put my call through to anyone who would listen to me.  I finally got in touch with Rich Victor (Collections Manager at Duvera) who said they would fix and report my final 11th payment so my account would show closed and paid in full.  Instead, the entire account was removed from my CBR.  In other words, the 11 months of positive credit reporting just got wiped out.  I called Victor who assured me they were going to fix the problem.  They never did.  For 3 months I sent emails and made calls to everyone on their management team but not a single call or email was responded to.  I then called Kahuna, the company that "gave" Duvera my account and even they said they were unable to get anyone at Duvera to respond to them.  They said Mary Jones (Duvera Operations Manager) had been sent emails but she had not responded to them.  I personally called Duvera and tried to get in touch with Jones but was given her voice mail.  Despite leaving my name and number she never returned the call.

Any company like Duvera Financial that refuses to return calls or emails is just shady.  And to have me pay them for 11 consecutive months and then remove my credit bureau reporting is just another indication of bad business practices.  I suppose this is why the San Diego BBB has them rated as "C-" not that it is really surprising.

RipOff?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 03, 2012

Okay while it sucks that you had a good credit line removed, there does not appear to be a RipOff.

There is no law or regulation that says a creditor MUST report to a credit report, it just says that IF they report what they report must be accurate.  So you were right in disputing it to not show your final payment.  But unless your loan agreement had some guarantee that they would post your positive payment history, they were also correct in just removing the line as their "fix".  Unfortunately there is really not much you can do to get them to put it back on if they don't want to.

One other thing though is that you mention it was removed from your "CBR" as in one report.  You do realize that there are 3 main reports that are used(Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian).  Have you checked ALL of them to see if it might just be on one of them?
