I received a coupon from a friend for the salon to have $10 taken off of a service of my choice. I am very happy with the current salon I go to, and without this coupon I would have never tried this one. Needless to say, I will never be back. I went to the salon to have acrylic nails put on for a special occasion and vacation. I made an appointment, and when I went, I asked their prices. First of all, this place wants to charge $50+ for acrylic nails and $30 for fill-ins, which is outright ridiculous. But I figured maybe there was a reason for the price (great service? I think not), and I decided to have them done there anyway.

So I went, and right off the bat the lady (Kat) who does my nails takes three hours (from 4-7pm) to put them on! I started getting worried because I figured anyone who does nails professionally should not take this long, and any other place I have gone (high and low end, and this is supposed to be a high end place) has NEVER taken longer than an hour and a half. But, I don't complain, and when I get done, the nails look a little mishapen and filed crooked on the tips, HUGE lumps of acrylic were stuck under the fake nails that would not come off, and there are tiny bubbles in the dried acrylic on each of the nails. The acrylic was also laid much thicker on one side of each nail than the other. I was not too happy, but didn't make a fuss upon leaving since I was trying out a place, was unhappy, and didn't plan on going back.

When I was paying and leaving, the lady who does the nails tells me, "If you have any problems at all, come back and we'll fix them right away. I know sometimes nails lift and thats no problem to fix." I was astonished then because the woman was acknowledging a problem right from the get go and I already thought her work was shabby. I have never had ANYONE say anything to me about having a possible problem with my nails when I left their business.

So, what do you know, two days later I am out of state and my nails are lifting at the bottom. EVERY ONE of them lifted around the cuticles. Three of them pop off! I knew then I must come back to the salon although the work was bad, at least to get it fixed. When I came back three days later (this had been 5 days total since the nails were done) I immediately called to make a fuss. Well, I talk to Gail (the owner) and tell her the problem. I told her I did not want Kat to do my nails again due to the shabby work. She offered to fix them at NO CHARGE herself since she was the only other person at the salon that did nails and tells me, "Don't worry, I'll fix it myself and we'll get you all taken care of honey," while apologizing over and over. Somewhat satisfied, I make an appointment with Gail and come in the next day.

When I come in, I was told Gail had already scheduled an extension appointment over my nail repair (obviously much more money is involved in the extensions). I was pissed. After waiting 20 minutes for her, Kat comes down the stairs and tells me I had an appointment with her. She was obviously oblivious that I had even organized an arrangement with Gail and Gail had pawned me on her.

So I tell Kat the problem. Although nice, she insists the problem is not her work. I ask to speak to Gail and Gail refuses to talk to me when Kat goes to get her (she will not come out of the back room because she is 'busy with extensions,' although I can see her just talking to an employee and not a single customer was in the shop besides me!). So I go with Kat to get my nails fixed. Kat tells me there is nothing wrong and that it will be a $30 fill-in charge to fix. I show her where the nails are no longer attached to my nail bed at the base of EVERY nail and the three missing. She insists I just need a fill-in over the top of it because "thats just what nails do", like she didn't know I had been there only 5 days ago. Every other time I have EVER had nails put on, they have never lifted at all much less came off in 5 days, and I never use abrasives around my nails while I have them either, which is another excuse she tried to pull. So I tell her I refuse to pay for the obvious mistakes, and tell her to speak to Gail about it, since Gail refuses to address the problem with me. Gail tells her that I cannot have my nails fixed unless I pay, contrary to what she said on the phone. So I got up to walk out. On my way out, I tried to talk to Gail (and waited for her to come out of the room for 10 minutes while watching her STILL talking with an employee and not doing hair) to try to alleviate the situation. I get nothing except being blown-off.

After waiting, I told them that I was going to leave, and that I would make sure to tell everyone I knew about the horrible service and lack of respect they gave me, and they replied "OK, whatever you think....have a good day" as I walked out the door. I was nothing but gracious until Gail refused to talk to me a second time, so there was absolutely no excuse for their behavior. So I am here to state if you are to the Wilmington Area DO NOT visit them. I have heard several other complaints from acquaintances that they had bad service (bad haircuts, color, and nails) and similar things regarding payment for the SALON'S messups had happened. I WILL NEVER VISIT THEM AGAIN. I am sure that this fairly new salon will never make it since they obviously do not care what even a patient customer thinks.

Let me start out with Dynamic Images Salon & Spa is one of the best salons in the area; the girls there are very experienced and pleasant. I have been there many times and have enjoyed everyone! The owner Gail, Sherry, Penny, Ken and Kat were there when I first started going an they were a great crew; I have recently gone to the new salon which is beautiful and found that Kat is back with Gail an Sherry; an I got a great pedicure from her...I would have to say that she is one of the best that I have had doing my pedi! I've had my hair, waxing, facials and nails done there an every person that I have had has done a wonderful job. When I came upon this report I was very suprised! I have had Kat do a fill in on me (with Acrylic) an it was not lumpy an all the things that were reported that happened to your nails. Kat did talk me out of keeping my acrylics an going to gel which she felt more comfortable with an were better for my nails. I did like my gels an when Kat wasn't able to do my nails Gail was very happy to do them those girls are a great, and very helpful too. I didn't end up keeping artifical nails but I did still go to Kat an Gail for manicures and pedicures. You said to that it took 3hrs....when you go to the vet. shops to get your nails done they take one hour to one-in-a-half hours an they do them everyday all day long maybe you should go there or just stay at the salon your at. If you would have talked to anyone from the shop they would have told you they specialize in natural nail care, that means they do other nail services but not everyday which was told to me; maybe I was just more friendly?! You obviously got very hurt by these 2 women an did they really know about it because I know if I was unhappy with them I'm sure they would have done something to help me out. Maybe instead of writing a novel about your service you should have told the person at the desk your issue an that was the reason you wanted to talk to Gail your story doesn't seem Totally true. Sorry to hear it if it is because I have had great experiences at Dynamic Images Salon & Spa an very happy for them on their move to the new Salon. Gail, and her employees are wonderful an excellent team an I hope the best for them & RECOMMEND for everyone to go there for hair services, waxing, facials, eyelash extensions, manicures, pedicures an gel nails!!!! I also have been there when a bridal party was there for a nail party an all the girls were raving on these them...they know how to make people feel good.

Where are we now? We are at 105 GRACE ST! We have moved two blocks from the old location into a beautiful, new, "GREEN" building, absolutely gorgeous! And how could we do this in these dire economic times? Excellent service, excellent clients, and excellent reputation. I have owned Dynamic Images since 1996, first in NY, and then here in Wilmington, NC for almost 5 years. (Looking forward to our 2-year Anniversary here in this beautiful new location!) Honestly, at this point i can only pity this person that so looked forward to our demise, as if that would make her lies believable to herself. Our ability to STAY in business, to KEEP OUR DOORS OPEN, is testament enough to our excellence. Come in today and experience Dynamic Images Salon & Spa.

Where's Dynamic Images now?

AUTHOR: unhappy ex-customer - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, April 29, 2010

Can't say I am surprised to see that this salon is no longer in business.  It is one of the few times in my life I have personally cared whether a business closed because of the way I was treated.  Also, I am glad to report that the salon I have visited since then (Salon Beyond Basics by the way; the one I have visited regularly for 7 years) has done a great job, just as they always have. I thought I would make that apparent since some on this post seem to think that bad service could have not possibly come from such a high end place, and that I must have been the problem.  After checking back on my original post two years later and walking by the old store front while downtown one day, it is apparent that this place is gone. Maybe I was right after all.

Guess the business was so great that it had to shut down.......

I LOVE DYNAMIC IMAGES

AUTHOR: Sue - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 23, 2009

After reading the report from the "unhappy" client, I too have a story to tell. It is completely true.

My son's wedding was last Saturday at Ft. Fisher. My new "daughter" chose Dynamic Images as the salon to have her wedding day hair and make-up done. She lives several hours from Wilmington, and relied on information found on the internet and in brochures to find the best salons. After calling several different stylists, she chose Dynamic Images because, "they were so nice on the phone." Little did we know she had found THE best salon.

My "daughter" scheduled an appointment for trial hair and make-up two days before the wedding, and wedding day hair/make-up for both of us. Since I planned to tag along on "trial" day, I called at the last minute hoping to get a pedicure as well. I was given an appointment just before my "daughter's!" (It should be noted that I recently had an accident that resulted in a fractured wrist and vertebrae). There was no way for me to do my own toes, and I just didn't have time to get them done before I left for the wedding. The girls at Dynamic Images didn't know this. They just made time for me! Shortly after making the appointment, I had to call and cancel. We had an emergency requiring the use of my car, and we could just barely make my "daughter's" trial time. Thankfully, she had her GPS and we found these wonderful people. When we walked into this lovely salon, we were greeted by Gail, Sherry, Denise, and Denise. We were offered refreshments, then Gail styled the bride's hair two different ways. After my "daughter" chose her favorite, Sherry did a beautiful trial make-up. All the while, these girls were talking and making us both feel so comfortable. We knew this was "THE" salon! Just before leaving, Gail offered me another appointment for a pedicure the next day!

Next morning, I left for the pedicure. I forgot my cell, and my "daughter" had the GPS. To put it mildly, I got lost. TWO HOURS later, I finally found my way back to the condo. Now I had to call Gail a SECOND time and beg forgiveness for missing an appointment, all the while trying to figure out how to hide my feet on "wedding day." (Even I'm not tacky enough to wear socks with sandals)! Expecting Gail to "tell me where to go and what to do when I get there," and rightfully so, I might add, you are NOT going to believe what she did. She said, "If you can get here, I'll find time for you," then she gave the phone to Denise who gave me directions! I made it! However, I couldn't step up into the ped chair, SO--Gail SAT ON THE FLOOR and gave me one of the best pedicures I've ever had! Then, as I was leaving, she and Sherry found out where we were staying and said, "follow us, we are going that way!" Those girls ACTUALLY got me back to the condo! Now I ask you, WHO would do that for someone they just met?

Next day is the wedding day! The bride and I arrived to find refreshments, then while Gail did the bride's hair, and Sherry did her make-up, Denise did a wonderful job of both for me. When I saw my "daughter," she was stunning! We were closing in on time for the wedding, and would have been late, except we took the route back the girls had shown me the previous day. We made it EXACTLY on time!

**To anyone looking for stylists for a special occasion, Dynamic Images is your place. These girls are tops!

**To Gail, Sherry, Denise, and Denise--we can't thank you enough! You made me look special for my son's wedding, and my "daughter" the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. If you are ever in Arizona, please look me up!

Let Me Tell You A Story..

AUTHOR: S. M. Scherer - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 02, 2009

I am a loyal customer of Dynamic Images.. with a fine toothed comb (pardon the pun) I am replying to this.. in respect to 'A Person' (a.k.a. an unhappy ex-customer).. I have never witnessed such ill repute of libel in my life.. near to the extent of taking actions against the individual by having her ISP traced and located.. which can be done on the internet thru the webmaster.
and this is gross Libel.. short of malicious defamations and slanderous falsehoods.. oh but wait.. she did threaten that as well, did she not?
((After waiting, I told them that I was going to leave, and that I would make sure to tell everyone I knew about the horrible service and lack of respect they gave me, ...as I walked out the door.))
Where are these so-called friends and acquaintances of hers that had bad service.. and not reported.
I would now be asking for the proof!

Now I choose to speak of an ill that had befallen me.. many of you at Dynamic Images know of it.. I am the "Nair Hair Travesty."
For three years, Gail has taken it upon herself to nurture my hair back to health.
My hair was a tangled melted chemically burned mess, due to a prank by a very inconsiderate troublesome teenaged prat that visited my residence and took it upon himself to mix Nair Hair Remover in my Shampoo, Body Wash, and Conditioner!

Oblivious to the damage.. my daughter came to run her fingers thru my curls as I was getting ready to leave out of the house for a dinner to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband, and handfuls of my hair were coming out in her hands.
I started to freak out!
I went to the bathroom and checked my hair in the mirror.. I then checked my bottles and noticed that they were all tampered with, which I did not immediately notice, until I removed the caps.
After going on a vehement tirade, I immediately rewashed my hair with a new bottle of shampoo.. one that had not yet been opened or tampered with in my bathroom cabinet.. we had to throw over 100$ with of products in the trash.
the next day I called Gail.
Gail had cut approximately 2 feet of my hair off as she was bordering on tears.
My hair was 38 inches in length when she started.

Here is what many don't know.. I was a donater.. every other year I donated my hair to "LOCKS OF LOVE."
I donated three times.. my first was 18 inches, my second was 16 inches, and my third was 21 inches..
I can not donate my hair anymore thanks to the perp that ruined my hair for the last three years!

Many cuts, layers, seals, glazes, conditionings, and trauma treatments, every 8 to 10 weeks for the last three years and yet today I get another one and still the chemical is there on the ends.. we are so close now!
HAPPILY it is getting healthy again.. so soft now.. where before it was brittle fried straw that broke at a snap.. always snagging when you attempted to run your fingers through it.. NOT anymore.
the ladies of Dyanmic Images always treated me with the utmost respect and kindness, made me and my family welcome with a hot coffee or refreshing drink.. great music, whether by radio, disk, or the Image patrons singing themselves and provided relaxing cushy furnishings to sink down in.. every time I visited was like a party.
At the end of the day, my stress levels ebbed.. with a grin on my face and now my grandson is able to play with my hair.. because its so soft now!

I'd also like to add that Gail also did give me the best manicure I have ever had.. and that speaks volumns.. I have busy hands for my busy household and happily the paint job lasted me 10 days!
Thats with them in hot soapy, sudsy, greasy, and muddy things that they shouldnt be in!
Thats my story and I'm stickin to it!

Now as for this witch hunt that 'A Person' is on.. seems to me that she was happy with her current salon, so why on this binge to defame someone she had no intention of going to in the first place and never to return to again?
I have to laugh at these allegations, which are seemingly preposterous.
'A Person,' name withheld for obvious reasons, may be obligated to another salon and coerced into posting these libelous statements of a REPUTABLE business which has been in service and positively recognized nationally for over 12 years.
The defamation here is rather malicious.. and I will only reiterate here again which was stated above by the ladies that replied.. that any business will stake their reputation on any of their work and ethics.. regardless of what it is..
Whether they are Esthiticians, Veterinarians, Extensionists, Machinists, SuperIntendants, Tattooists, Mechanics.. all walks of careers.

Your vilification here, 'A Person', seems to be doing nothing but inciting anger from other customers.
Everyone is entitled to be ignorant, but you, 'A Person' (a.k.a. an unhappy ex-customer) are abusing the priviledge.

Good Day.

A HAPPY Current Customer!

AUTHOR: Dynamicimages - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 06, 2009

Where to begin? First, let me say, while I firmly believe in websites such as this for the protection of customers, it is people like this unhappy customer on sites like this that are really going to cause harm to excellent businesses. To say this person's complaint was embellished would be a gross understatement. As our menu states, full set of acrylics is $40-50, fills are $23.

Actually, as I reread the whole complaint, I realize I would have to address ALMOST EVERY SENTENCE to bring truth to what actually happened. We are EXTREMELY sorry this person feels they had such a bad experience but it is a result of a customer's ignorance of processes, an inability to believe a professional's assessments and advice, inability to ACT on that advice, and the resulting disappointment. Anyone reading this that has a job that involves customers knows exactly what I'm saying. This person's portrayal of Kat's work is filled with embellishment and lies stemming from anger and said ignorance. This person received a service that she requested, was told about the concerns that the technician had as to how well this service will perform on her hands in particular, and in the end, Kat DID say If you have any problems, come back and we'll fix them right away. Now think about that sentence. Anyone that finds anything negative about a service person saying THAT to a customer DESERVES to receive services elsewhere. However, this person came back with problems that were not due to services received at Dynamic Images and wanted new services for free, which is not why we are in business. Nor did her needs require the owner, Gail, in ANY capacity. To say Gail avoided her, hid from her, wasn't working on anyone at the time, had no other customers in the shop..BALD FACED LIES. When you have a ridiculous customer who obviously cannot be pleased, you reach the point of saying, and I quote this customer, OK, whatever you think, have a good day. Again, anyone with a job that has customers knows what I mean.

Now, the worst lies are in the following quote from this person:
I have heard several other complaints from acquaintances that they had bad service (bad haircuts, color, and nails) and similar things regarding payment for the SALON'S messups had happened.

There is a clearly shown place on this website for other people that have been ripped off by this same company. We know for a fact that this person HAS no such acquaintances, not only because this person would have directed them to this sight to help back up her complaint and has had 6 months to do so, but more importantly, each of our stylists (hair and color) has a MINIMUM of 10 years experience, are internationally published and recognized, and have backgrounds in and continue to service film, television, fashion, runway, and professional photo shoots. Sadly, I won't be surprised when this person reads this and gets friends to write more lies to make her look good and to make Dynamic Images Salon and Spa look bad. As to the success of Dynamic Images Salon and Spa, starting in New York and relocating to Wilmington for marriage, Gail has successfully owned and operated Dynamic Images Salon and Spa for over 12 years. This simply would not be possible if this salon performed in the manner(s) stated in this person's complaint.

Kat has recently moved away but she and her skills are welcome to work here any time she wants.
We must thank this unhappy former customer for one thing though; we are now going to compile testimonials from our clients and post them to a site that will be accessible for all to see. We would rather people read the TRUTH about Dynamic Images Salon and Spa.

Dynamic Images - a TERRIFIC salon!

AUTHOR: Emily - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 03, 2008

I have been a customer of Dynamic Images Salon since it's opening. I am a client that is in the salon at least once a month; if not more, as I depend on the Dynamic Images staff, (including the owner, and others in the salon) to allow me the freedom of one less thing about which to worry.

One of the reasons that I began going to Dynamic Images is that the stylists at my previous salon began both coloring and styling my hair more to their liking, rather than mine. Additionally, a simple base color and highlight touch-up seemed to take four hours and cost over $150.00 and I had to schedule my appointments a minimum of four to six weeks in advance. Impossible - I am a performer and am on the road much of the time. I never know in which city I will be from one month to another, so the thought of scheduling that far in advance is ridiculous.

From the time of my first appointment at Dynamic Images, I have been thrilled with all of the services provided. Gail's skill with color is matched only by Sherry's ability to shape the most unruly hair into a haircut that should be on the pages of Vogue. The young lady, Kat, mentioned in the attack on Dynamic Images, has done my nails as well. My schedule is hell on pre-arranged appointments, but I know that it is a 100% certainty that Gail will find an appointment for me within two or three days of the time that I call. Often she can work me in either the same day or the next.

Her expertise as a colorist is unmatched. She has unknowingly convinced several of my friends that I am a natural blonde. I am always offered coffee or diet soda when I come in. If my parking meter needs more quarters, Gail, Sherry, Kat or anyone available sneaks down to my car and feeds the meter for me. I am always treated more than well, and am thrilled with the value I receive. I am paying approximately ONE-HALF of what I had paid at my previous salon. I am thrilled with the service I've received, and send as many people as I am able to experience the professionalism of Dynamic Images and the incredible skill of their staff. In short, I experienced none of the problems mentioned by this individual. I do have a couple of questions for this complainer, however:

1. Why, if you were so dissatisfied with both the product and the service rendered, did you not mention it to either the salon owner or any other member of the staff PRIOR to your leaving the premises?

2. Remembering the dissatisfaction you expressed regarding the time taken to perform this sevice, the product, service received, AND the cost of this service, why would you schedule another appointment. Your own statements that the cost was "outright ridiculous", and that previous acrylic nail experiences have "NEVER taken longer than an hour and a half" do not mesh with your return to a place that, per your own words, did not meet one of your standards. If you were so unhappy, why return? If someone does a "shabby job", what makes you think that their abilities, (either in their specific craft or in pleasing you, specifically), would change so drastically in only five days?

3. You make two statements that make me question the validity of this "report". One is "But, I don't complain" and the other "I was not too happy, but didn't make a fuss upon leaving since I was trying out a place, was unhappy, and didn't plan on going back. I wonder why you DIDN'T complain, DIDN'T make a 'fuss'.

If you walk out of a salon, retail store, grocery, etc., unsatisfied with any aspect of either the product and/or the service, and do NOT mention your unhappiness to someone in authority in the business, then your dissatisfaction and unhappiness become your responsibility. You chose not to assume the responsibility to stand up for yourself and say something. You chose to leave unhappy. It is my strong suspicion that your negative experience in this salon is based more upon your unreasonable expectations, (i.e., high end service for low end price), than it was based upon actual events.

I have been in the salon at varying times throughout the day, and have heard only one other person voice dissatisfaction; and this dissatisfaction was directed at a stylist, only renting a "booth", who had arrived almost an hour after the client's scheduled appointment. During this process, both Gail and Sherry offered to assist the client in any way they could. When the errant stylist eventually arrived, this client expressed her dissatisfaction and anger immediately - and the problem was immediately corrected. I have also heard the staff of the salon tell many of their clients, including me, to call them if there are any problems. Problems can happen in ANY business, but the owners and staff of Dynamic Images have made a commitment to excellence which includes correcting any errors and immediately addressing any dissatisfaction that may arise.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dynamic Images Salon to anyone and everyone looking for an incredible cut, beautiful healthy color, smooth skin, lovely hands & feet, and/or a relaxing message. The skill level of this staff is uptown; first class, and the staff exude smalltown kindness and caring. I've included my first name...why does this "complainer" not do the same? I think I smell some SOUR GRAPES.

Dynamic Images, Wilmington, NC

AUTHOR: Rasa Love Cunningham - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 01, 2008

I have read the report filed by a consumer regarding this salon, and as a current client, I feel that this was posted unfairly.
I have been a client of Dynamic Images since the salon opened and have gone no where else to have beauty treatments done. I have received only the best of care from all of the staff. I too have my nails and hair done there.

I am in the restaurant business and am in my kitchen almost daily. I also am around my horse daily and my hands get abused. I have gel nails done by the salon and they are the only place in Wilmington and in the surrounding area that actually gives me a manicure that lasts. My nails do not lift, nor do they crack, peel or break off. I can go 3 weeks without a fill in and have never had to have a repair. (Trust me, if anyone can ruin a manicure, it's me)

As far as my hair, I have the most spectacular haircuts and color thanks to the staff at Dynamic Images. I have sent them a ton of referrals and I would trust no one else to maintain my style and color. They take their time and never rush through a hair cut, never overbook and have NEVER kept me waiting.

So, thank you Gail, Sherry and all the staff there. I am glad to know that there are professionals in the area that give such great service and are so warm and friendly.

I hope that they continue to prosper and do the great work that they do! Thank you for making me beautiful!
