I bought Battlefield 2142 (BF2142) online at EA Store a year ago so I could play with my Son which had installed the box version. However we went to play again yesterday and his game loaded and he could play right away, but since my version was purchased online I was prompted by the game (BF2142) "You must login to EA Download Manager (EADM) before playing this game".
So I clicked on the EADM shortcut and copied and pasted my User Name and password I kept in an account archive file (zip) into EADM but it said, ~"not a vaild user name or password". I kept trying but to no avail. So I went to EA website and search for a solution. I finally found an EA web link that I tried, which converted my old User Name account type to a newer Email Address login type, which worked.

But I'm ANGRY that EA didn't program the EA DOWNLOAD MANAGER (EADM) to check old account names and suggest a link to convert/upgrade to the new email account type. The fact that EADM doesn't check old accounts is truly
negligent, especially since my game cannot be played unless a successful login to EADM occurs. Additionally even though I had a valid user account I couldn't login to play! I wrote the following to EA Support

My hope in posting here is that a class action suit is brought against EA that this level of incompetence qualifies for! Further more I hope the lawsuit would stop all software that requires an online internet login to run/play locally! I hope everybody NEVER buys another product/program that requires an internet login to even run/play locally off-line.

Here is my response I had with EA support, I blocked out their reply because I believe I have to because of the support aggrement I clicked yes to but didn't read...like everyone else.

RE: "We apologize, you can play Battlefield 2142 with your Classic EA.com account if you registered before. "
NO I COULD NOT, Didn't you read what I wrote? EADM would NOT accept my User Name and Password login!
I had to convert my account login type FIRST! I keep my EA account info documented in a plain text file that I keep in a zip encrypted password protected file. I open and copy and paste both user name and password in EADM to make sure a human error (typo) does not occur! Furthermore I was able to use that SAME User Name and Account to login to EA website and this support forum, which confirmed that I had the correct User Name and Password!
Thus confirming that EADM was not accepting my VALID User Name and Password!
ARE WE CLEAR NOW that EADM was/is not aware of my existing valid User Name and Password!
THANK YOU!

But I'm ANGRY that you guys didn't program the EA DOWNLOAD MANAGER (EADM) to check old account names and suggest a link to convert/upgrade to the new email account type. The fact that EADM doesn't check old accounts is truly negligent, since my game cannot be played unless a successful login to EADM occurs. Additionally even though I had a valid user account I couldn't login to play! If I were an attorney I would sue the crap out of you guys with at least a personal suit much less the class action suit that this level of incompetence qualifies for!

I will NEVER buy another game from EA that requires Internet login to even play locally off-line.
