I like hundreds if not thousands of people have fallen victim to a scam provided by EDP Reporting. I have read many stories from other victims and almost felt as if I wrote them. I can relate with every story I read. I can't believe this injustice hasen't been taken care of by now. I noticed these stories have been coming in since the early part of 2006 if not longer. I would like to join a class action suit if there is one started. Would someone please explain how to do this. I am willing to testify against this company when the time comes. This has given me a new outlook at how these scammer companies are able to operate. Without all of the victims standing together these companies will continue their havoc. I will moniter this site for anyone willing to stand with me on this matter. We need to get the word out about this company. EDP Reporting is a company that needs to feel the wrath of the law.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Class actions and what not

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

After reading your report, and not knowing what the heck this outfit was or what they did to you, I did a little investigating. To my fellow readers: this company has been, basically, making unauthorized charges against people's checking accounts. These charges seem to stem from dealings that the consumers may have had with one of several different companies, all of which are actually just pseudonyms for the company that is the subject of this report.

It looks like a federal court has shut them down. I would imagine that a class action suit is probably in the works somewhere, but such may not be the case. Alot of people, especially RoR readers, like to say that they are going to start a class action lawsuit, but never actually do so (my apologies to my fellow RoR loyalists, but you guys often lack follow-through).

If a class action IS in the works, you shouldn't have to worry about making any efforts to "join up" in it, depending on the wording of the complaint that was filed. In class action suits, all of the people who were victimized, and who fall into the definition in the Complaint, will be notified of the case and told what they need to do.

Now, when I say "definition in the Complaint," this is what I mean: jurisdictional and efficacy concerns often preclude class action suits from including everyone who may have been a victim of a given outfit. For example, a class action suit may be filed against a certain company in the federal court for the Northern District of Illinois. The law firm that brings the suit may, for one reason or another, list the plaintiffs as "all victims residing within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Northern District of Illinois." So, if you live in, for example, California, you will not be included in this class action suit.

Unfortunately, there really is no easy way for a consumer to find out whether there is a class action pending in which he/she may be a plaintiff, at least until a notice is received. An attorney, however, can find out rather easily. So, your best option is to find an attorney who is willing to do a cheap or free initial consultation with you to find out if you are already a member of a "class," or whether you may want to become a "named plaintiff" in a new class. In some cases, you may be better off with your own individual lawsuit as opposed to a class action. Also, if the amount by which you were defrauded is rather small, you may want to file a small claims action on your own. In your small claims complaint, ask for the amount by which you were defrauded plus court costs.

Best of luck!
