Corporate Advocacy Program™
I called the company and asked what it was all about. They were very snotty with me. I even asked them why they were. They must get 1,000 of calls an hour because of this.
Someone is becoming very rich. I never authorized anyone to debit my checking account. I have already filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau. Not that it will do much good, but someone needs to investigate this illegal activity.
Any suggestions from anyone, no comments on how stupid I was to even look at any information about this company.

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!
HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:
Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.
According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.
If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.
Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!
DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!
Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.
And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.
Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.
If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.
CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD
If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.
Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.
And good luck Let us know how you do!

Same thing happened to me

Upon applying for this payday advance loan, which by you submitting your routing number and bank account number and electronic signature for the loan to be processed, expecting the payday advance loan, the company submits your information for a started credit card and charges you a registration fee.
Upon seeing a $ 99.00 charge I also called my bank- Bank of America. The fraud department notified me since I submitted my banking account numbers for this advance loan they had the right to this money and I had notified them I did not give my personal authorization for them to take my money for a credit card, especially a card whcih can only be used at thier online shopping site.
I somehow got hold of the company representative at EDP at the # 800-430-0672 and also sent them an email. They contacted me back.
I was told by the company as long as I complete a cancellation form ( which you can find at www.edpreportingform.com - you will need your Conf# key code number and your email address - the email address you used to apply for the so-called payday advance loan) within 5 days of receiving my bank account statemnt showing proof they took my $ 99.99 and fax it to them at 818-487-0634, I shoud receive my refund in 30 days by check in the mail.
I have just faxed them the cancellation contract from their site and my bank statement, hopefully this is the last straw with them.
Also, there is another scam of applying for a payday advance loan and then they use your information to submit it for a magazine subscription, which is $ 19.95. I am now pursiuing them.
I hope this information works.
Just make sure you try and get your confirmation key number from the EDP company.
Good Luck! :)

I have previously filed a report on this site, stating that my personal information which was willingly given for a Premier Credit Card application was misappropriated.
I know that the Premier Card and the pre-paid Acclaim Debit card that I did not apply for are somehow connected because a link for each was in a single subsequent email I received.
Now let's supppose for just a moment that everything is on the level. And that I did actually fill out an application, and that I just don't recall doing so. This raises a very obvious question:
Where exactly is my Acclaim Pre-paid Debit Card?
I have to date not received any further correspondence form EDebitPay, LLC.
Sincerely,
Cornwall on Hudson, NY

Complaint Classification: Selling Practices
Complaint Description - Posted 1-11-2006
On 3 Jan 2006 my account was debited for $159.95 for a card I never ordered. I spent hours on the phone on hold starting the minute I noticed the charge. I have 9 credit cards and 4 bank accounts with Debit cards. I have no need for a card that cost this much with no credit value and fees for loading cash on it. I truly believe they pulled my information from a credit card I was applying for to consolidate my other cards; they pulled this information and placed it in a bogus prepaid card application. I am 42 years old and have been in the Air Force for 24 years. I do not order anything without reading all the terms and agreements first. The main point is; if anybody ever approached you on the street or phone and tried to sell you this card you would not buy it. You are paying for a card that has no value, especially if you already have a bank checking account with a debit card. The individuals at the company are rude if and when you can contact them and will not offer a refund. The use caned cut and paste answers trying to push you off to the major credit card companies, Visa and MasterCard. They encourage you to contact the police and fill out fraud forms. They committed the fraud and they want you to report yourself? Please investigate this company, they are bad news and it is obvious they are in business to rip off the public. Thank you so much.
Complaint Summary
Unauthorized withdrawl from my bank account of $159.95 - Worthless Debit Card
Resolution Sought
Refund me my $159.95 as soon as possible. I would also like to see thier practice of unauthorized withdrawls come to an end for all the poor people I read about who get taken by this scam.
Company's Response
Initial Response - Posted 1-17-2006
We strongly disagree that this was an unauthorized transaction. Consumers are required to fill in ABA/Routing numbers, checking account numbers, social security numbers and names. Our Websites are very clear that $159.95 will be deducted from the consumer bank account. This statement is not buried in a page long Terms and Conditions. Our Websites states, in very simple terms, that this is NOT a credit card but a debit card. Customers can load their own funds onto the debit cards and use them wherever Visa Mastercard is accepted. All the language and set up on our websites have been approved by Visa and Mastercard, which have very stringent security parameters. We apologize for the difficulty this individual had in dealing with customer service and as EDebitPay is very concerned with the appearance of impropriety, we are issuing a courtesy refund in the amount of $159.95.
Initial Response Summary
Courtesy refund for $159.95 on 1/17/06.

An entry has been made and must now be processed by the BBB.
Rebuttal Confirmation #: 462234
I appreciate the quick response from the company. I am looking for the refund and would like to know if it is coming in the mail or if it is going to be credited back to my account? I am very thankful for the services of the BBB and the company to take care of my complaint. Most of the complaints generated are due to the fact they are entering their information and going to the second page without knowing it is a commitment. This is deciptive in a way; Not everybody is "Internet Savy" - A scam is a scam no matter how you slice it. Regardless of what you agree to via button pushing; if you don't want it, you don't want it? I don't remember ever filling out their application.

A comment on a rebutal from Vicki from Edebit, Hollywood, CA I just hope that you can sleep with yourself at night. You are just as bad as the company. You are taking money from people fraudulently.
AUTHOR: Ellen - (U.S.A.)

If we did agree to it then we wouldn't be so upset about you taking that much money from us. You say that you have three days to cancel and get a full refund, but you don't take the money out right away. You wait at least 6 days to take the money out. That way, no one will ever get a refund because they don't even know that this is happening. You can have all the empathy that you want. I just hope that you can sleep with yourself at night. You are just as bad as the company. You are taking money from people fraudulently. I have filed a police report, your company being the one that is reported as fraudulent and misleading information. Your company has been reported to the FTC. I reported you, but there is already a case against a company, that also goes, guess what, by EdebitPay. So you see, whatever you choose to believe because you need the job, or you just like ripping people off, the company you work for is scamming people, as well as anyone who works for them. I do hope that you read this. I will enjoy reading your rebuttal on this. I don't care if it is just $159.95, to be that's alot, that's my gas bill. I will take this to court if I have too. I told the police that I will prosecute. If might not be a felony for just one person, but add it all up, and see what you get. So if anyone wants to join me on this little adventure, just say the word. I'll get it going.
