ENCORE ELECTRIC FORMERLY TXU ENERGY TREE DESTRUCTION -CUT TO THE GROUND TYLER, Texas

My mother, who is 80 years old and still working, came home from work on July 19th, to find the  best and her favorite tree in her yard, cut to the ground by the so called tree "trimmers" contracted by Encore Electric.   This was a very rare tree, called a Monkey Puzzle Tree, she has always been very proud of it.  This tree was not directly under any power lines, and did not have any branches near the power lines, and was well up into her yard by her patio. She called me crying and upset. She then called the Sheriff -no one came. She called again and finally someone talked to her and told her it did sound wrong and to call the deputy. She did --he did not call back. She called Encore of course and they promised to call back several times, they did not. Encore would not talk to me,because I am not the account holder.  She mainly just wanted to know WHY. They could have trimmed the tree if necessary but they cut it to the ground without permission.  Now I have talked to a lawyer who says our hands are probably tied because she would spend more in legal fees than the tree is worth.  I guess this means the electric co. can just come into your yard and destroy your property, rob you of your trees, and it is just ok. And what does this say about our county law enforcement?  She no longer even feels safe.  Not even an apology from the electric co.
