ESBI and Residential Email placed a 14.95 charge on my Qwest bill that was never authorized. A complaint filed with the BBB against ESBI indicated that the company cannot be reached and they could not follow up. Qwest removed the charge and placed a block against ESBI and Residential Email. If they hit you with a charge that was unauthorized, probably all their charges ask the phone company to escalate the reversal of the charge and block future charges from the company. The internet is littered with complaints against both companies. They will not stop until criminal or civil action is taken by govt authorities. Try filing complaints with the BBB, the FCC and the State Attorney General. Maybe we can stop this kind of fraud!

Qwest employee

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

I work at Qwest, and one thing I wouldn't believe from the rep is that he blocked the company from future charges. We do not have the power to block 3rd party companies from charging phone bills if these companies have permission from the person signing up with the services. Granted, all it takes to get the charges on someones phone bill is to visit a marketing link that may say they will provide the consumer with $1,000 in grocery coupons (or something similar) if they sign up with their month to month service. The person, then needs to click a confirmtion link in the email stating that they accept the charges on the given phone number. The problem however is that anyone has the ability to state that they are the owner of the given phone number. Rather than fraud on behalf of Qwest, it seems as if this is an FCC loophole, which allows fraud to be conducted via the people that click these marketing links. It seems like 95% of the time the people admit that the email and the information used is their own, but there was a oversight in the small print of these marketing links in which they did not realize, which resulted in the 14.95 charge. The only way to block future charges is by contacting the company who charged for these services, which in this case is residential email, not Qwest.
