I decided to use Ecampus' BuyBack program. Under this program Ecampus will offer a certain amount of guaranteed money for a used textbook. They also pay for the shipping.
My order was placed on 9/16 and my books were clearly received by the company and shown on my account as fitting the quality standards "line received". The policy is 4-6 weeks for payment after receiving the books. I also chose the direct deposit option so that I did not have to wait for a check to be sent out. In most normal businesses, this would indicate an even quicker receipt of the money, as there would be no mailing delays incurred.
I waited my 6 weeks and did not receive payment, I looked the company up on RipOffReport.com and saw that there were claims on there with people noting they have yet to receive payment and this was months and months ago. I sent Ecampus an email letting them be quite aware of my frustrations, and I insured them that I would file complaints if I did not receive my money by the following wed. (11/6). The next day I received a simple email stating, "sorry for the delay, your check will be sent out and you will be notified when this occurs" this is not verbatim.. but you get the idea.
I emailed Ecampus once again, as they said they would send me a CHECK when I clearly opted for direct deposit. So now I have to wait more time for a check to be mailed to me. Another week goes by and surprise surprise, no check or deposit. I am not very happy, and I send another email. I hate to say it but they do start to become mean emails. This time I do not receive an email, even when I made it clear that I was unhappy and I would be sure to notify the dean at my school of their illegitimate business practices.
My dean refers me to the head of the library (Roger Getz) and he contacts Ecampus. I receive another email saying that I should receive a check in 3-5 days. You can imagine my thoughts and emotions at this time. The head of the library tells me to wait patiently, I wait.. not so patiently, but I wait. 3-5 days go by, and to no avail.. still no check! This time I notify the head of the library how how truley unhappy I am. I also make sure to call Ecampus on phone this time. I spoke to a Bernice.. and she notified me that my name has just been added to a list for my check to sent out, and I made her quite aware that this is about the 3rd time I heard this string of lies from this horrible company!
She takes my cell phone number and tells me that she will call me back as soon as its positive that my check is sent out. I never received a phone call. This past Monday I called again and they told me the same line of nonsense, "sorry about all of this maam, your check has JUST been added to the list yesterday and you should receive it with in the week" How many times do I have to call a company, for money, that I will probably never receive.
I'm sure that they have already sold my very good quality used books to another student for triple of what I was "supposed" to have received. In my eyes, this company stole my property and is basically refusing to give me my money. It is the same as someone breaking into my house/car and stealing it right out from underneath me. This is NOT the way ANY company should run their business.
