Booked Guatemala trip for Christmas 2005 for over $5K, travel agent did not check visa requirements and trip was cancelled on Christmas day. Director of Ecovoayger got reimbursements from hotels and promised in written email to reimburse for $1.6K. He never kept his word. Also overcharged for another trip, and I managed to get an equivalent trip to Chile for $2k less.

This client booked only land arrangements to Guatemala with Eco Voyager. She booked the international Airfare on her own. In all of our documents we remind clients to contact the embassy or consulate of the country that they are traveling to for Visa Requirenments. If they book airfare with us we check for them as that is a requirenment. Since she booked airafre directly it was hers and the Airlines responsibility to check this. In our communications with client she never informed us she was not a US citizen. We did not cancel the program, client called us from the airport to tell us that the airline will not let her board the plane because she did not have a Visa. She at that time was not accusing Eco Voyager of any wrong doing.

We told her that it will be very difficult to get any refunds for the trip as it is a last minute cancellation, but that we would try. She semmed very pleased for this effort. After 1 month of negotiations with the properties and no ill will from the client we informed her that we were able to get her more than half of the money back to her, plus all of our profit from the trip. This was and act of goodwill from Eco Voyager as our cancellation policy clearly states that no refunds are given if trip is cancelled within 30 days of operation. Becuase of the circunstances we acted to help her out. She was very happy and asked us to put that refund towards a Chile trip that she was planning to purchase from us.

Once the Chile trip did materialize she asked for the refund, and we adviced her that it would take 14 days for the refund to process and get to her. She wanted it immediately and we asked her to be patient. I believe this is where she turned sour. In the end she did get her refund on March 31st, 14 days after she asked for it.

As far as getting the Chile Trip for 2k less, that is impossible. Although I dont know what she booked, it must have been different hotels and discounted airfare.

In summary all we we did was assist the client in every aspect, circumventing our policies, and spending the time to negotiate with our suppliers on her behalf. If we were a company that "ripped off" cleints we would be reported here more often and most probably out of business. We have been in business for over 14 years and 12 of those years on the Internet. We have very good references and most of our business is generated via referrals and worth of mouth.
