If you are considering buying the services of Empire Who's Who think twice. At least in our case, they did not provide the services they promised...
When Empire Who's Who contacted my wife and appealed to her vanity by offering to list her in their Who's Who book she fell for it... After all, they promised her an attractive certificate "suitable for framing," an engraved wall plaque, a trip to Hawaii, her name in a leather-bound book, and access to their "important" website. It sounded great.
But when the certificate arrived it was totally unacceptable. It was so badly printed that some letters were partially missing!
My wife called to complain but she could not get a human being on the line. So she left a message and a call back number on their answering machine. But no one called back... not in one week, not in one month! Finally we returned the certificate via certified mail. Based on the faulty certificate, we feared that the book might be equally as badly printed as the certificate, and since they had failed to respond to our phone calls, we no longer wanted any goods or services from them. We therefor contested the charge on our credit card and the credit card company issued a "charge back" against Empire Who's Who.
That did produce a response. The folks at Empire Who's Who called (for the first time, nearly seven weeks after we had tried to contact them) and said they would replace the certificate. But since we believed that the book might be equally as badly printed as the certificate, and since they had failed to respond to our phone calls, we no longer wanted anything from them. We told them that, but they said we had to pay anyway and contested the chargeback. The credit card company charged us again.
We countered their claim and the matter has been bouncing back and forth for fully four months without resolution. We returned everything to Empire Who's Who. We don't want any goods or services from them. No badly printed certificate. No sight-unseen book. No non-functional access to a website. No airline vouchers. Nothing!
Still Empire Who's Who claims that we owe them approximately eight hundred dollars and contests or requests for a refund.
We found this website because there is another complaint about Empire Who's Who listed here.
