POSTED: Tuesday, April 23, 2013If the repairs are sub standard or have devalued your car and the repairs did not brig your car back to the pre- loss condition, you have the right to demand appraisal by 2 outside appraisers and an umpire . Of course you have to hire your own appraiser who can be an independent adjuster, public adjuster, auto body shop man, or even your pastor. Just about anyone you like who you feel can advocate for you. If your and the company's selected appraiser cannot agree on the final amount, they will choose an impartial umpire and the cost is split between you and Encompass.
The total cost can run you with both your appraiser and umpire $1000. Is it worth the cost? You will almost always get more money out of the appraisal process.
Otherwise, stay away from Encompass (Allstate) and be better off for it.
