I recently purchased a solar water heater from a company that used complete deceptive methods into having me finance a loan for the equipment.  It was a loan that could be paid off in cash after the first 12 months.  I had no idea of the terms of the loan, because the finance company "Enerbank" never contacted me untill after the 12 months.  I started paying the loan by sending them a check for $1000., which at the time the payments were only $150.  They cashed the check for $1000.

and didnt contact me for another 7 months.  They stated the the $1000. was put towards the interest the loan would accrue for that year.  There would be $0 taken off the principle and I would have to continue to make interest payments each month.  When I told them I wanted to pay off some of the balance of the principle, they told me I would have to send them more than the interest payment, and also state that the additional would go to the principle. 

If I didnt state that, any additional monies would go towards future interest.  I started out with a loan of about $6000. and my loan is now $7000.  I have made all my payments on time, but they continue to say that my payments are late.  When I told them I can afford to pay them interest for the rest of my life, they said, "then you should have thought about when you took out the loan".  I told the guy that I have children and dont make much money and that my children come first. 

He said and I quote, "maybe you should have thought about not having children, and its not his problem and that the loan should come before feeding my kids".  The company is completely unprofessional, and I truly believe they are ripping people off intentionally.  They should not be allowed to operate and I am sure if they were investigated they would be shut down.

We do not discuss publicly individual accounts at EnerBank USA, but our customer service number (1-888-390-1220) is available [Mon-Fri 9:00 AM 7:00 PM ET] for any customer who has questions about or problems with his or her account.  For our Same as Cash customers,  we do send notification of the Same as Cash expiration date at the beginning of the loan, and we send at least one reminder letter approximately 30 days prior to their Same as Cash expiration date to remind our customers that the date is approaching.  EnerBank USA makes thousands of loans each month to homeowners nationwide, and we receive very few complaints overall.  We maintain an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and we try to resolve all complaints in a reasonable and timely manner. If you feel that you were treated poorly please contact our office at the number listed above so we have the opportunity to look into it.
