Search Tips You got a quote for a 6 month policy and that's what you paid. What you're complaining about is a renewal. Basically, a new policy for the next six months. Do you think the insurance company should be required to renew your policy indefinitely for the same price? It doesn't work that way in the real world.
It's not a ripoff as you are free to reject their renewal and go with someone else with a better price. It's called competition.
You may find that the next company you sign with will also get you by offering a low introductory rate, then bumping it up on renewal. It's getting to be a very common practice in the industry.
It's only bait and switch if they quote you one rate for a policy, then charge you another after you accept.
