On February 13, 2013, I used Expedia to book with their Unpublished Rates feature. The feature is supposed to guarantee a minimum star rating and the hotel name appears after you secure payment with your credit card. I have done this in the past with no problems. On this particular occasion, the hotel I received indicated 4 stars on Expedia but only 3.5 stars on Priceline. Additional research online indicated that many travelers have complained of this issue. It is merely a converted motel and is nowhere near a 4-star resort, yet I just paid 4-star price and apparently will be charged a 20 resort fee per day upon check-in. Upon bringing up this to the customer service representative, Sukie (Employee Number AJH), she just kept repeating the no cancellation policy. Expedia does not need to loose my money, they just need to provide me with an accurately assigned 4.0 star hotel as requested and paid for. I have found that hotel on other sites for $150/night and I was charged $204/night and this unpublished rate is supposed to be the best deal. This is a total scam.
