Exploretalent.com sounds like a really good deal. You take an interest in their website, maybe put a few pic's up, then someone will call you and tell you how hot you are and that they have clients really wanting to work with you. They will tell you that their business clients have asked them to choose someone and they will recommend you as soon as you give them your credit card information. They explain to you how they will be acting as "your agent" and they already have plenty of job opportunities lined up, you just have to pay to become a member. Trust me, they will ask for your information about 5 times in the first 10 minutes of this initial call. I chose not to give it right away, so naturally they continued to call like they really wanted me to take these jobs they were offering. Believe me when I say, as soon as I paid, I never heard from them again. They make it sound like a great deal that you are only paying $35 a month and you keep all your profits. Think about it. If these "agents" actually planned on getting you any gigs that paid, they would definately want a percentage of the profits. As soon as you pay the membership fee, their job is done! They do not work for you, they do not find gigs for you, they do not promote you, nothing! Their pay is your monthly fee, why would they work hard to promote your career if they have already received all the money they can get out of you.
My advice, go with an agent. They take a small cut of the jobs they book you for, so they will continue to work hard to find you gigs. They will also see that you get what you need to progress (portfolio, classes, etc.). The people at exploretalent.com will never even meet you.
