Sent $600 deposit for a fawn Dane. Didn't do proper research noticed more than a few negative reviews of Jen powers now Jen Menning.
I confronted her on it and she answered it as you can't please everyone and that she's sold over 200 puppies. Which mathematically seems impossible considering she only been supposedly breeding for 8 years. Plus even if 200 puppies in 8 years was true, sounds like a business not a love for Great Danes.
Despite the negative reviews I said fine, lets move forward I trust you. At that point our soon to be new member was 5 weeks old.
She promised new pictures every week and I found myself having to remind her.
She also ships her dogs--big no no. Anyone who loves their litter would never ship their puppy. She didn't do a background check. Matter of fact the Wells Fargo bank called me whe her husband Kyle went to cash it...yes that's right, Jen is the breeder but she requires checks and Paypal are sent to Kyle--that sounded suspect too.
So between the 5th and 6th week of anxiously awaiting our fawn Great Dane puppy, our 10 year old daughter so excited to welcome him... Days go by and no updated pictures...finally I receive an email that states..."so sorry to have to say this but your puppy didn't make it, the dam or mom of the pup stepped on him and he died". BS BS BS
My wife and I wondered when the hell she was planning to tell us. If it weren't for her knowing I work with law enforcement I truly believe we'd never see the deposit back. She is a scammer!! No reputable breeder has bad reviews, such as on rip off.com. Btw all her testimonials on her website she can add herself and make them up because the website is definitely homegrown by a novice web designer.
For all I know she buys great dane puppies from pet stores and carries on that way with her business...who knows. I will tell you now that I'm educated if her Sire jagger that she claims to have is truly top 10 or akc certified her Great Dane puppies would be WAY more than $1200.
I checked around with other breeders and they all concurred and said something doesn't seem right with exquisite Danes.
I got the $600 back but that isn't the point. She is a liar, and I believe if I weren't on her hard I'd never see that money again.
Beware, please know I had a miserable experience. What's worse is I let my daughter down.
Oh and the dam or mother of a litter doesn't move for weeks...she's exhausted and the likelihood of a mother to step on her puppy so hard to kill her pup is preposterous. I hope she sees her day on court.
If I can save 1 family from adopting a puppy from this lady I've done my job.
