I find it interesting that so many people have struggled with this company. After having an account for 2-3 years suddenly I was informed I could no longer use it.

For a three month period I got no bill from them. When bills started coming in again the return addresses would vary until they finally settled on one. Card Processing Center is where I send my payment.

At the beginning of this year I asked for an 18 month report of all my account activity after becoming suspicious of their seeming unlawful business practices.

I was told it would be $2 per page. (in writing, I've never had a phone number to call re: this account). I thought that sounded shadey along with the various mailing addresses and lack of customer support.

I turned them into the Attorney General for the state of Illinois. Spiegel was summoned for comment, at which time they refused stating it was out of their hands now. FCNB claims to be out of business and declined comment. Card Processing Center commented stating that everything they've done is lawful.

While I was conducting this dispute I didn't pay anything on the account. One live representative told me I shouldn't be paying since there is a dispute. (note: she called me in an attempt to collect). All the while, they charged me late charges of $35 a month, with interest. My account balance climbed $140 with interest in 4 short months. In addition they've threatened to turn me over to collection and have called EVERY SINGLE week 10-15 times. I just pick up and hang up.

This week I sent them $500.00 which leaves me with a balance of about 500.00 and is WELL above the required minimum amount. I've requested they refund me the late fees and that they tell me whom if anyone they turned me over to. We'll see what happens next and I'm hopeful that I don't run into the nightmare collections problems everyone else has had.

In my opinion, it seems there should be something that can be done. I've noticed others have contacted FCNB directly and the Atty General and myself have been told they went under completely and there IS no one to contact. It all seems very shadey to me but I don't know what I can do about it. Good luck to all involved in this terrible mess.
