in late May and in early June terrible thunderstorms
that caused damage and flooding.
We were declared a disaster area by the Powers That Be,
and FEMA was called in.
Our home was hit hard, structurally, and we lost a lot
of paperwork as well. I was also injured in the tornado,
and hospitalized for a brief time. I have late stage
multiple sclerosis and other diseases, so my injuries had to be watched carefully. When we were finally permitted to return to our home, we were just heartsick. The ess was incredible, but we still had most of our home intact.
We could not find our checkbooks or recent bills in all the muck the storm left behind.The mood did not lend itself to worrying about paying bills.
My monthly payments to FCNB/Card Processing Center are due the 13th of June:only 6 days ago from this writing!
But only 2 days after the due date we began receiving calls up to 10 times a day, starting at 8 AM and continuing until after 9 PM. THIS IS ILLEGAL.
Caller ID showed the calls were coming from FCNB, now
"hiding" under the "Card Processing Center" identity.
No messages were left; only silence and then the slamming of their phone! No chance of us picking up.
The monthly payment I owed was only $25.00, on a total
balance of $803.00, from my old Newport News card.
After seeing who the calls were from, we attempted to
pick up the phone to explain the situation but
just as in the calls to the answering machine, we
were met with SILENCE.
When we attempt to call them
there is NO HUMAN to discuss this with!
So how could we possibly discuss the situation?
I am now at the stage of anger and frustration which
makes me want to stall on my June payment and
pay only the usual $25 next month.
But I know that will only cause more calls.
However, if it does, we can have them reported
as "anonymous caller rejection" and that sure looks
fine to us! I will pay them and write why my
payment is late on their bill. If I get a late charge
I will refuse to pay it,try to call them and if I
do not get a human, I will write my protest.
My husband and I are in our mid 50's and never in our lives have we experienced this crazy treatment from
any creditor or even bill collectors.
If they want their money, they ought to let you
talk to them!
