FEDEX UK Personal shipments using Fedex Internet

Fedex promised me that they would ship a urgent set of medical supplies for a little boy in Thailand and would not charge extra. The package was delayed in Thailand and we phoned repeatedly to say if there were any extra charges to destroy the package. Because of the little nasty tricks Fedex does with its shipping forms it can make you responsible for any charges it negotiates with customs. In this case they negotiated a 1000% import duty and billed my account. I cancelled my credit card and my account immediately and told the consignee to refuse the shipment. I wrote a strong letter of complaint at the tripling of charges and was told that no one in Fedex ever commits to a fixed price shipment. 

Let this be a lesson. If you use fedex you have no fixed price. They will and can charge you for anything that is added on anywhere- storage, import duties anything. They do not look after you and should be avoided altogether by members of the public and small businesses. Never tick any of their boxes on an airway bill however much a courier insists you must. Never listen to anything anyone tells you over the phone. 

This company is a con and a cynical one at that.
