First American Home Buyers Protection Warranty should not be in business!
I signed up with this company when we purchased our home on March 17, 2006. My husband and I liked their brochure and it said FAHB was company with integrity, used certified contractors and guaranteed their service within 48 hours. What a bunch of B.S????
I was having problems with my upstairs AC and called FAHBP to report a claim. They set me up with a contractor called PREMEIR HEATING & AC which contacted me the next day and we set up an appointment for the following day between 1pm and 4pm. I took off work early to meet the contractor whom NEVER showed up. I contacted FAHB who apologized and said they would send me another contractor from a different company called RANGERS HEATING & AC. I was given a window from 8am to noon on Saturday, May 27. The technician did not arrive until 6pm. He tinkered with the AC for about 10 minutes, added some coolant and said that everything was fine and that you could feel the cool air coming out of the vent now. We were so happy that we even gave him an extra $20.00 tip for doing such a good job, along with the $65.00 service fee of course. It was not until an hour later my husband went upstairs and found that it was like an oven. If anything, it was worse than before. I called the tech back on his cell phone and he answered, than hungup. I called back and it went to voice mail. I left him a nice message, stating that he had just left our home and that the AC was not working and could he come back and take a look at it. He never called us back and we went the whole Memorial Day weekend with no AC on our top floor.
The following Monday I got a call from Rangers. The operator said that she could send another tech out and gave me a window of 1pm to 4pm. The tech NEVER showed up!
By this time, I am furious and placing plenty of calls to FAHB. I could not get a supervisor or manager on the line, customer service kept transferring me to different voice mails. I left several messages for Virginia in Claims Resoloutin Dept who NEVER returned my calls.
Today, I called and was told that my claim had escalated to the Claims Evaluation Dept and after 30 minutes on hold, was transferred to a voice mail of someone named Trish. I have left two messages for her today and still no return call. On the message, I advised Trish that at this point I could care a less about sending another faulty contractor, I just would like a refund and take my business somewhere else... I am still waiting on her call.
I Googled this company name today trying to find the name of their Corporate Managers, CEO, President, etc. and could not find anything. I did find this website, which gives me peace of mind that if we all stand together, we as the consumer can put this company out of business.
I have also filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau and I encourage anyone who has issues with this company to do the same.
I found that the BBB had 29 complaints against Rangers Heating & AC. Certified contractors my butt!!!
