Not a illegal, not a rip off

First Premier is a credit card aimed at people who have bad or no credit. The company charges not only outrageous interest, due to your credit risk, but an annual fee (I believe that's the $179) and even a monthly fee to have the card.
Insane, however people desperate for a credit card will sign up for it.
The bottom line is, you signed the agreement to pay all those fees. You didn't read it (indeed your mistake) and now you're paying for it.
All you can do at this point is take the payoff agreement and pay what you can. Tell them your work situation and they will work with you. Believe me, they are very familiar with working with people who can't pay their bills. Good luck to you.
