I SIGNE UP FOR A CREDIT CARD WITH FIRST PREMIER BANK. i DID NOT READ ALL THE SMALL PRINT OR UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS READING. MY MISTAKE.

I USED THE CREDIT CALLED A COUPLE OF TIMES. I PAYED OFF THE AMOUNT I CHARGED AND CANCELLED THE CREDIT CARD. THEY ARE STILL CHARGING ME $179.00 PLUS $29 A MONTH FOR INTERESTED FEE EVEN THOUGHT I AM NOT USING THE CREDIT CARD ANY MORE AND CANCELLED IT....I GOT LAID OFF FROM WORK. THEY CALL ON AN UNKNOW NUMBER DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE.

ON 6/10/09. I ANSWER THE PHONE THE LADY OFFER TO WORK SOMETHING OUT. PAYING ONLY HALF OF THE $256.00 SHE SAID I OWED WHICH WOULD BE $160.00 TWO PAYMENT OF $50.00 AND AFTER THAT $25.00 A MONTH UNTIL PAID OFF.

IS THIS LEGAL TO DO TO PEOPLE TO CHARGE THEM ALL THAT MONEY

Not a illegal, not a rip off

AUTHOR: Jt - (U.S.A.)

If you signed their agreement when you signed up for the card, you agreed to the terms and conditions of that contract. You admit in your first sentence that you didn't read it carefully. There is no rip off here, just a valuable life lesson learned read the contracts you sign carefully!!

#2 Consumer Comment

Absolutely legal

AUTHOR: Debbie - (U.S.A.)

This is absolutely legal to do, unfortunately.

First Premier is a credit card aimed at people who have bad or no credit. The company charges not only outrageous interest, due to your credit risk, but an annual fee (I believe that's the $179) and even a monthly fee to have the card.

Insane, however people desperate for a credit card will sign up for it.

The bottom line is, you signed the agreement to pay all those fees. You didn't read it (indeed your mistake) and now you're paying for it.

All you can do at this point is take the payoff agreement and pay what you can. Tell them your work situation and they will work with you. Believe me, they are very familiar with working with people who can't pay their bills. Good luck to you.
