Since Jan.2011 I have had six fuel pumps replaced on my 2001 Mercury Sable. this car has only 30000 orig. miles. sold new in az. in as new cond., except for this. they claim bad pumps, over and over. using new ford mfgd.. pumps each time. called customer relations every time after second time and they just refer me back to dealer. I ask why this keeps happening, what else is wrong with car they reply nothing. Apparently Ford just makes fuel pumps that are defective. but after six times replaced Mr. Luden at customer relations advises me that they will replace for free as long as 1yr. warranty in effect. after that will have to pay another 750.00+ to start all over again, and they WILL NOT extend the warranty 1 day past the orig. time. dealer is not the problem FO MO CO with all their resources cannot or will not find a solution. it was also suggested maybe I should just trade it in. what kind of a solution to a repair problem is that? tried to contact the zone rep. Jason and Mark Wittier DM but no replys. would advise not to take your taurus or sable to a dealer as the factory ford fuel pumps are garbage.
