I sent the settlement payoff offer of $1403.76 on the 19th of September like was requested. But come this last Sunday morning the guy was here to reposses the vehicle. I have no idea where the vehicle was taken just that it was taken to N. Carolina and I live in S. Carolina which is about 100 miles from where I live and they will not tell me where the car is at. I called the phone number on the settlement letter and the lady at extension # 02075 was one of the rudes and most hateful person I have ever spoke with at Ford these people need some people skills. My husband worked at Ford in Metuchen, NJ for over 10 years. We have bought over 15 vehicles from Ford and this was the first one we have had trouble with. I tried to explain to the lady (I will call her that) that my husband had just passed away and was expecting some money in a couple of weeks but she said this could not wait so I put off paying other bills to pay this money. I called her again today and asked to talk to a Supervisor and she said I could not. That now I need to pay $1754.70 plus the repo fee on the vehicle that I already paid the settlement money on i was never notified except this settlement offer letter that the vehicle was being repossessed. According to what I have read S. Carolina law states they need to send a letter informing me of the vehicle being repossesed and I have 20 days to clear up ther debt.

Dan, I'm originally from NJ, I do not know if you're NY or NJ, but under contract in NJ had to be 3 payments were missed, to place it under repossession status. If you're talking one payment then something doesn't sound right at all. Please email me at deepseadawn357@aol.com I am not an attorney ok, and also they had to send a certified letter to you of the action. I can't tell you how many times, I seen people who got hurt by people like this.

They repossessed my car on Monday morning, November 12. I was so upset that I emailed Ford CEO Alan Mulally, and the next day "Mike" from the executive offices called me. He was at 866-844-6816. He wasn't much help. They repossessed my car as we were still reeling from Hurrucane Sandy. I had no power, phone and internet for over a week. Our local Post Office was closed for 8 days. We were ready to make a payment. It was on top of our bill pile, but we couldnt pay a bill if we wanted to. Our first "normal" day was Thursday November 8. I lost wages, and had to spend what little money I had on food and other necessities. A little over 72 hours later, they took the car. Yes, I am seeking some options.

You have to take letter of payoff, with copy of your receipt for monies paid, send copy to your State's Attorney General, there should be a Consumer Protection Agency, and see with local police, to file a complaint for stolen car, as long as you have both the payoff letter and your receipt, I think it would be theft by deception, and file report also giving name of the repossession company to them, just to get a copy of a police report, and ship all up to Attorney General's Office. If police say civil, tell them no criminal and show your receipt with page stating the payoff on it against the receipt of monies. Then ship everything with a copy to Ford showing how they screwed up, and additional fees are on them to return the paid off car. Also call the Federal Trade Commission, and report it to their Consumer Division as well. Hope it helps.
