I'm writting this to complain about Ford Motor Credit taking the consumer for $17 to
pay for their title when the loan is paid off.I didn't realize this till I went to sell my
mother-in-laws car and couldn't find the title.I applied to the motor vechile department to get a copy and was sent back all the paper work and check with a
note saying their was a lien on the car by Ford.When calling Ford,they said they
sent the title of which they didn't because it would of showed on motor vechile
records.I read prior report of this on the site and just want to say they are still
doing what other loan companys don't do.Any car I ever purchased with a loan,
sent the title to me once I paid the loan off and without cost.It's about time that
this was given to NBC or other station nightly news to exspose what they are doing
and getting away with it.

Title Problem

You say Ford said they sent the title to you. "When calling Ford,they said they sent the title of which they didn't because it would of showed on motor vechile records." If they sent it to you then that means it went to you. Not motor vehicles. So the only way Motor vehicles would have it is if you took it to them. Since you say you didn't or she didn't get it then of course your DMV doesn't hhave the info. It is up to you to file this paper work with the state. If they released the original title and mailed it out it cost them money to order a duplicate. Why shouldn't they pass that cost on to you? It would be nice if they paid it for you but thats all. Again whats the news story? that the post office lost mail? or your mailman has a hoard of mail in his basement? What did Ford do wrong to you? Also did you advise ford to send the title to your address not your mother in laws? Are you sure she didn't lose it. There is no point in a company keeping your title it just takes up space.
