late last summer ( 8-05 ) i purchased a new 1/2 hp motor for my cooler.a few days ago it was horribly hot and it stopped working.it was not even a yr old & i paid $55.00 for it.DONT buy anything from framco ace hardware store in yucaipa, ca. you will regret it like i did. plus their prices are quite high. thank goodness home depot is in beaumont,ca which is less than 10 miles away.its worth the xtra milage.i purchased a new 1/2 hp cooler motor at home depot & it works fine.prices have gone up everywhere but not like these small town hardware stores.framco ace harware also seems to hire female teeny bopper bimbos as well.they never know where anything is.i will NEVER purchase anything from framco ace hardware store again..EVER !!

What's the problem?

After reading this report I'm wondering what the problem is. You had a cooler motor that you bought and used for a year that stopped working. Did you try to return it to Ace Hardware and they wouldn't take it back?

Surely you could not expect a full refund or exchange on a product you used for a year, especially when you should go through the manufacturer because this Ace Hardware obviously does not make the cooler motors, they just sell them.

I have shopped at that Ace before, and they can be very leineint with returns as long as you have a receipt. Besides, cooler motors generally do last only for a year if the cooler is not properly maintained during the cold season and then all of a sudden it is turned on when it gets hot.

In the future, when you make a purchase like this, I would recommend keeping the receipt "just in case." Many times if you call the manufacturer of the cooler motor they can offer a replacement too, with you paying part of the cost and them covering the other part.
