I am appalled by what I am reading and thought we were the only ones going through these issues with Select Pportfolio Services. When we first bought ourr home it was financed with another company and then sold to Fairbanks Capital. It seemed things were okay. Then they started hitting us with fees, of which were never explained or disclosed. Then out of the blue they canceled our hazard insurance through our insurance agent and started charging us for hazard insurance (but at a rate for much more than what we paid out of escrow). Now, they say we have been three months behind in our payments (even though we have been paying each month). Somehow our payment went up a few hundred dollars with them notifying us until now when they want to foreclose on our house. After I called them they said that money that was sent to them has been put in unapplied accounts (what the heck is that? when you send money to someone it should be credited to your account-sounds shady to me). Anyway, they will not apply any past payments to our mortgage until we are paid up to date (according to their records). So, now we are left wondering if the agreement we made with them is not really an agreement on their part. We do not want to lose our house and we are sure they are doing something illegal. We have thought about refinancing yet our credit is ruined. I think this company is taking advantage of people with poor credit. We just wnat to know what can be done about this company; we do not want to lose our house (and we are quite sure that this is the route SPS will take- especially after reading this). I do not trust them one bit.
