impossible to believe

AUTHOR: 8675309 - (U.S.A.)

i agree with the person up there...

you got a mortgage, which was a promise to pay, and the house was the collateral.

you didnt pay. they took the house.

and it's even harder to believe that they 'wouldn't show up to court,' esp. since to engage in foreclosure and eviction, they would have to go in front of a judge, in a court room... and it going to 'federal court,' as foreclosure is not a federally mandated/run program, it has no place IN federal court... which just leads me to believe that you didn't pay your mortgage and they took the house and you're just pissed.

here's the thing... it costs a lot of money for a bank to kick you out of your house... there are lots of court hearings, dealing with the sherif's dept, court fees, lawyer fees and so forth, so if you really did only owe some two hundred and whatever dollars, they wouldn't have gone through that whole expensive process... lenders hate to foreclose, it means they get a house they're going to have to sell at less than what is owed by the owner.

i did pay my mortage

AUTHOR: Caren - (U.S.A.)

not only did i pay my mortage i only owed 237 dollars to my escrow when fairbanks bought my mortage from citibank therefore according my attorney at the time and federal law you can't just sell someones house to another party without me even knowing about it. and anyway how can you comment on a matter of which you don't have all the details about, unless you've dealt with a long court battle and used all your savings on attorney's fees and when its time for the hearing regarding the decision on the house and find your attorney failed to even bother to show up for the hearing because fairbanks only gave notice to the attorney and not to me.

So no one showed up for the hearing and when i finally got to federal court the judge even said that there was wrongdoing on the part of the attorney and the bank, so what may seem simple is not a simple matter at all! and i say this to just say that unless you know the details of a matter, its not is a matter of not paying the mortage!

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Well

AUTHOR: Mindy - (U.S.A.)

When you took out your mortgage, you signed a "In Lieu of Foreclosure" disclosure that said the bank can have your house if you dont pay the mortgage.

You didnt pay your mortgage.

The bank took your house.

I dont see the problem here.

Can someone help?
