Loss Prevention was involved, and there were accusations that were simply not true. Check this out; 6 days after they "suspend" me, my apartment building was broken into, and I was robbed. Is this coincidence, or are they angry because I am fighting this?
Do not shop at Family Dollar. Let's work together to end these games. They are using their managers to clean up the stores, and then trumping up reasons to get rid of them. What reasons, and I mean legitamate reasons could they have when someone like myself getsd sales up 20-25%, in 3 months, gets customers back who swore they would never return, fires all of the employees who were stealing from the store previously, and gets the store to #1 in the district after taking over when it was #22 out of 22?
Let's get as many managers together as possible, and get them for all of the overtime we can. Count me in.

It's the same...................

I know of 2 complaints that are being investigated by the EEOC and it has been over a year since this was filed. Not only will Family Dollar drag it out, it could take years. They have the money not to mention the lawyers. As far as the lawsuit which was ended or so you think for 30 million. It is in appeals. No one has received a dime as of yet.
The staff scheduler is not fair. It has managers clocking out for breaks and they are the only members of management on duty and by policy can not leave the store. I don't mean to babble but this is what this sight is for.
The lawsuit is basically this...We as managers are paid salary because we ultimately are responsible for the success of our stores. We can hire and fire, make decisions, and control our buildings.(per FD)but the reality is we have no control.........they stated in a pr release that we managers accasionally stock and run the register that we basically do office duties. That is not so right now in my district we are not allowed to hire or fire anyone without paper trail and the permission of the DM.
According to the lawsuit that was filed this should make it so we are not classified as salary managers. Assistants that get paid hourly do the exact same job as managers. I think there should be a cap on how many hours we pull. Every year more task get put on us with no more payroll.
If you take the managers salary out of stores you will find that you are running stores on 3 and 4% which is not fair I say again. I have not had a raise in three years not because I have not earned it but because we have been through 4 DM's during that time and everytime I find myself having to prove myself once again.
I'm not perfect but I do run a good honest store. We strive my crew and I to do our best. Then when I think I will get a raise we get a new DM. If a DM tells you something get it in writing cause if you don't, when they leave so does any promises they may have made.
I stay because I like people. I have a family to support and that allows me to suck it up. I wish you the best of luck to you and yours. By the way not that this matters I have had about 5-6 stores since coming on board with FD.

I scored better then most of the other stores in the district on anytime 5's. Last but not least , I took a diverted truck, from New Orleans and additional 2300 boxes of freight. I received no extra payroll to work this out, nor any extra pay for the time put in to control it. I do have pictures of this. Do I feel I am owed some additional compensation, yes. I also would like to include FD stole a vocation day from me, and still owes me severance pay, when my father passed on. Instead of severence pay they used my vocation pay.
Well the bottom line is , I would be willing to talk to your lawyer on behalf of past and current salaried managers everywhere. I am not sure how to get in touch with you. Other than note your lawyer has my consent to notify ripoffreport for the apprioate contact information.

Good Luck & Godspeed

I knew there were going to be huge problems when I refused to come in on my day off. Th last two weeks of my short tenure were filled with dread and loathing for a company that used slogans like "Hooked on Fun" and "Team-Friendly Environment".
When I left, I felt pounds lighter. I didn't wish to pursue any legal action, I simply wanted out. Sad to say, many others have come into FD, and many more will follow.
Good luck in whatever litigation you may pursue. But the best solution, I see, is get a better job, live a better life, and if you do get a settlement from FD, call it good fortune and spend the money freely and frivously.

Anyway, all of my ducks are in a row, and I know that there was a lawsuit with them not too many years ago and they had to pay 30-some million in overtime to the managers. It's not about millions. Trust me, i would have no idea how to handle that. Way too much money. We are looking at about 7400.00 Nothing earthshattering. I am not a sue-happy person.
I have been in court once in my life, and was so nervous it wasn't funny. It is the principal. Money was an issue for this relationship from the beginning. I figured if I took my chances, and did good by the guy, the money would come. It didn't, and things happened.
I appreciate your advise, and will make sure I take it to heart. I have already begun contacting the proper departments. Thanks Again,
Joe

Some Questions

What is your proof? Do you have paystubs?
Have you spoken to Wage and Hour, or the state Department of Labor?
If you sue, are you prepared to wait anywhere from six months to five years? Litigation takes a lot of time.
Finally, can you prove your allegations?
