I was employeed with Family Dollar In New Jersey for 7 months. During those 7 months I worked approx 60-90 hours per week which resulted in me making less than my employees. I worked many times from open too close and worked by myself. I feel that it is very unsafe to work for Family Dollar. I was robbed at gunpoint on Xmas eve which resulted in a 1770 cash loss. I had an open workers comp claim which they closed just after one week when I was seeking help. On Jan 13 2011 I was TERMINATED for failure to protect company assets. I could not belive this. Around Jan 5 my DM Marjorie Penn came into my store to review the DVR while she was watching me being robbed she was laughing as if it was funny. My Assistant was present while she did this. I feel I was wrongfully terminated. I was not going to jump on the robber to save the companys cash...My life is more important that the little bit of cash they got. I am hoping a Lawyer will review this, because I am looking to have a lawsuit against family dollar.

i have been working for family "slave" dollar for a little over a year now. I have never been treated like such a n!&&@r in my life! I have also filed a complaint with the EEOC on the blatant racism angainst myself and wrongful termination of some fellow minority coworkers, I was almost fired for not protecting company assets but clearly pointed out to them how they were not providing us with the necessary tools to protect their company assets then I was spared for the moment only to have to be subject to blatant retaliation and racism! I have complained up the ladder and had more than enough documented proof in my hands but it has fallen on deaf ears. i filed with the EEOC and now Im waiting on them..they havent even came in and investigated yet and its been over 2 months already. I will be looking for me an attorney within the next couple of days..
