Russ is the worst manager I've ever worked for. He makes us follow hispanic families when they come into the store, saying things like, "keep an eye on those beaners so they don't steal anything from my store".. He always says, "His store".. like he owns it. I can't believe this man gets away with all the crap he does! I've seen other eports here that suggest Corporate office condones employee harassment of employees, and they must because for some unknown reason to the employees, he's never fired
He's been seen time after time changing his hours on the computer, so he can rip off Family Dollar. If we employees did that, we'd be arrested on the spot. Spends most of his work day on smoke breaks outside, getting paid for it, and will only give us one 10 minute break on a 8 hour shift.
Yesterday.. after i just got to work, a male & female couple walked into the store. I had never seen them before, and had no reason to be suspicious of them. After they shopped for a little while, they came to the counter to pay for their purchases. As they were paying, Russell walked outside, not saying anything to me. Apparently, he knew them when they walked into the store as shoplifters, and was watching them. As they were shopping he witnessed them stuff a piece of candy, and a toy watch into their coats. So when he walked out, he was going to wait for them to walk out the door, not warning me what happened. The couple paid, and walked out the door where Russell confronted them. I still didn't have a clue what was happening. I heard some words being exchanged in the parking lot, so i glanced out, and saw Russ talking to the women. She was visibly angry... then she stormed back into the store, throwing a sucker at me as i stood at the cash register. She was waiting for me to ring it up, so I did so.. She paid for it, and I handed her a receipt. She walked out, and the next thing I knew Russell was walking in mad as heck at me... calling me all kinds of F words for ringing up her purchase. There was a police officer there by then, & arrested the pair for stealing the toy watch. They didn't even try to pay for it. Customers were in the store as I'm being called "Stupid", "Fing Stupid B" and anything else his vulgar mouth could dish up, as he's also telling me, "I wasn't suppose to ring up the sucker because they walked out without paying for it." I didn't understand his reasoning because I had always been instructed that I could not refuse to ring up any sale being paid for. If i had known it was a shoplifted item, I would have waited for Russell, and let him deal with it. Because I rang up the sucker, He accused of being a accomplice, by "Protecting them from prosecution." How could I protect anyone when I didn't know anything had happened until after the fact! Anyways.. I've never been written up.. not even with this.. but He fired me yesterday.
I'm looking for other ex employees who's been harassed, then fired by this man. I don't plan on accepting being called a Fing Stupid B! And its common knowledge he's done it to many other women.
