I went to Fan Sams on 1/12/07 to have the usual; color, highlight and cut. When I signed in I was asked if it mattered who did my hair, I asked if the girl that normally did it was in, she was not. The lady at the counter asked if Cheryl would be okay. Inside I was screaming NO, but it was very ackward with her standing there looking at me to say no I do not want her to do my hair. So I said okay.
The reason I was so hesitant about this girl doing my hair is this. Several months ago she did my hair and it did not cover the roots, in less than 2 weeks it looked as if I had nothing done. I lived with it because I did not want any more chemicals put on my hair so soon. When I felt it was safe I went back and explained to them what had happened. Not only did it not cover the two women that looked at my hair agreed that it was green.
When the girl went to the back to mix the color on the 12th I begged the manager to keep an eye on her and explained to her what had happened before. She assured me she would.
After paying $106.00 I went home to dry my hair and discovered that the same thing had happened again. This time I called Fantastic Sams and spoke with the manager. She said, well I asked you if it would be okay for Cheryl to do your hair and you said it was okay. Again I explained to her what an ackward position that I, as a customer, was put in by being asked that question right in front of all the employees at Fantastic Sams and the numerous customers that were there.
I will never again be put in this position, because I will find another beauty salon in the future to have my hair done. This place is a rip off to begin with. I have since checked with other salons in town and so far I have found Fantastic Sams to be the most expensive.
So BEWARE everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do know that Fantastic Sams anywhere has a customer profile program in their computers systems. If they are keeping proper salon records your profile will let them know everything you have had done to your hair, who did it and what color formula worked and what one didn't. They even know what hair care products you have purchased and when. Unless you are buying professional products from them so they know what you do to your hair after a chemical service a lot of salons wont stand behind the work. One bad thing about a lot of stylist, they do everything they can to keep other stylist form knowing what they put on a customers hair in hopes of maintainning that customers business for themselves. Therefore they wont record anything. The customer should always ask that the stylist maintain proper service records when using a chain salon. The stylist don't have a set schedule because the owners want the customers to get used to the salon not any one stylist. That way when they come in they will be used to different stylist doing their hair and it wont matter when a stylist leaves. All the while the salon puts pressure on the stylist to meet a production qutoa and keeps track of their product sales and customer request. If they don't meet a predetermined production and sales rate they may find themselve out of a job.
