About a year ago I went to a interview with Wilhelmina scouting network which turned out to be a room filled with people who were there for this "interview". I filled out some forms that asked me to put general information and sizes as well as any experience I had. After that happened A lady called us in one by one and took two pictures of each of us ( my pictures looked as if I just woke up with a real bad hang over)and took our height measurements.
After all this happened We were then all called in for a one on one chat with a scout in a small very badley lit room. This lady told me to walk back and forth 2 times and stand in front of her and smile and then I gave her two pictures of myself(which I want back!).
She then proceeded to tell me that I was a perfect person to model. She said that the modeling industry was waiting for someone like myself and that I was going to explode like Cindy Crawford and Tyra Banks.
I was thinking wow! If I was that amazing how come I'm struggling with rent and bills!? She then directed me to another female who said that I was wonderful and she can put me on their website and GUARANTEE me work. I just needed to make a deposit of 1,000.00 and 19.95 every month there after.
I then said to her if i was going to be the next big thing shouldn't they be paying me and not the other way around?! She said everyone pays at first, so i said i would think about it and never called them back. During the next few weeks I recieved many calls from the ladies I had met, and in one call one of the ladies even lowered the price to small payments of 400.00. I refused and they never called back.
Not too long ago I called them back just out of curiosity. I took the business card out of my wallet and the number was no longer in service. I looked at the website and nothing. I then found out they were scamming people into giving them all this money and promising them work but no delivery was happening.
Time passed and The other day I was browsing through yahoo search for modeling agencies and fashion rock came about. I read the entire page and it sounded good. I booked a phone interview but never recieved a call, so i then called the number on the site 866-582-4204.
I spoke to a man who interviewed me for about 45 minutes who asked me why i wanted to become a model and tell him my hopes and dreams.
He then transferred me to a woman who was very polite and said congratulations you are invited to attend fashion rocks holiday fest which is a 3 day 2 night event in Orlando Florida in which over 100 agents go to see models, actors, dancers, and comedians show their talent and hopefully win a contract or prizes.
The only thing is I had to pay atleast 200.00 to hold my seat, and I had to do it at that moment or they can't hold my seat.
I thought it was very strange but she convinced me and i did a westen union for 200 dollars and got a call back saying ok now i'll be in this holiday fest and congratulations bla bla bla. Then they hit me with it! I have to pay 200 dollars everry month until january! No one told me this. Now I'm out 200.00!!!!
I have been looking on the net all day and i see people with horrible stories about this company. I only lost 200. There are people that lost hundreds and thousads. It makes me sick to my stomach that I fell for this, but the bright side is that I caught it before I wasted more money!!!! The funny thing is that when I was talking to this man about how I had almost been scammed by wilhelmina scouting network. I had told him how much they charged and his response was "yeah that was a big scandle" and the whole time it was the same company in disguise!
I hope my story will help people from not falling for this horrible place who says they can make your dreams come true when in reality all they do is crush your heart!!!!!!
