The "Get Started Now" link sent me to http://www.exedhvtaiegvtrr.com. This site was titled "Fedex Refund Processors Make Great Money!"
I read all the info. on the site and it sounded great so I paid the $39.95. The info. on the site stated that the complete Refund Recovery Package is normally $199.95, but for a limited time only they would slash the price and give me a special $160.00 discount...
An email soon followed from jkcomm_65@hotmail thanking me for joining Refund Recovery.
Then I received an email shortly after that from freeweb@net-member.com thanking me for my purchase and giving me instructions on how to gain access to the member site. (http://www.linkmembers.net/login/) Also, letting me know that my account will be handled by "Freewebland."
I purchased this so called software on 8/30/03 (Fri). All weekend I searched for clients through there industry list, and was planning my NEW Business. I was excited. I seen this ad before, but UPS was included in the deal. I got to thinking, if I could get the UPS software as well I could really make some money, so I typed UPS Refund Recovery in my browser and walla, there it was. Thank Goodness I seen the link under it stating refund recovery scam. This caught my eye so I clicked on the link and here I am. I feel lucky though. I didn't spend more than $39.95 before I found out it was a scam..

If you used your bank debit card, by all means, get a new account number, or you will remain vulnerable.
Now this next suggestion is just a possibility, but you might consider contacting your area Fedex and UPS to determine their level of involvement, and why they allow their name to be used, in potentially fraudulent practices. They are not legally obligated to help you, but in the long run, they have the real power to stop it.
Remember emails are easy to ignore, and written information helps to build and save evidence of your proof of purchase, and all genuine attempts to find resolution.
Hope this helps.

We need more information ..no allowance or acceptance of Third Party Refund Processors
AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Friday, January 23, 2004
I've been to your website (Fedex), and see no allowance or acceptance of Third Party Refund Processors. They emphasize the point that you can track your shipment, and with proof, the refund is COST FREE, which basically prices your "Recovery Center" out of the market. I still am not convinced Fedex would give out their customer account information, especially as they guarantee privacy.
I will re-visit the Fedex site to check for changes.
We need more information. You also need to provide more specific sources. What "Training Center"? Specify the page and section of the manual. What is the name of the website?
IF it is legal, what is Federal Law? How does this apply to State Law? Did you know this corporation is now in violation of Internet Law? What makes this legal?
If your intentions are honest, you will share this information with us. You will also validate your findings.
Thank you.

This from Consumer Alert:

This is direct information. Get your proof of payment information together and make double copies of everything. All that you can do is try for that refund.
I got this information through Googles cache of: http://www.refundrecovery.com/
I've also been to the site, which by the way is up for sale. They sound more like they are trying to appeal to FedEx and UPS customers to use them for tracking refunds, rather than training subcontracters to provide a "second or third party service".
They boldly mention and highlight FedEx and UPS but do not provide direct links to the given sites or provide significant contact information.
FedEx and UPS do not acknowledge their existance. BOTH are copyrighted, so using their names are potentially illegal. They do not use corporate logos, which would be a red flag for me, but using the names is just as wrong.
Someone please get back to me on how Pay Systems cooperates in processing refunds. In addition, I don't think PaySystems is looking for a free plug. They are under the scruting of Internet Security and Exchange Commission.
I DO NOT WANT to give out ineffective contact information. Update with refund information, please.
This could be a way of helping others victimized as well.
Hope this helps.

The people being victimized are in this search-by-names of: Rapid Refund Recovery, Overnight Refund, and possibly Transconnect
AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

Please, please, please file a "Rip-off Report Alert" independently, so that others victimized can get this valuable information. Include "RapidRefundRecovery" so that those specific individuals know the information is for them. There is a risk this specific report might get lost in the shuffle, with your Rebuttal inbetween. This is the first time I have witnessed any input possibly from Fedex.
Is there a Fedex website with more information about this prohibition?
The people being victimized are in this search-by-names of: Rapid Refund Recovery, Overnight Refund, and possibly Transconnect. They are also in categories: Home based businesses, software programs, and possibly Corrupt Companies.
Thank you and hope you can get an eye catching Rip-off Report out there soon.

#12 Consumer Suggestion
there should be no problem with that refund.
AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, December 11, 2003
If you purchased this product through your credit card, there should be no problem with that refund. If you wrote a personal check or used a debit card, show your bank a literal photocopy of this report, and refer them to this site. Sometimes banks are more inflexible, because they are not yet familiar with the nature of internet eMarketing. They might have a way of pursuing that refund for you or not penalizing your account for the loss.
Money orders can be traced, when purchased from certain establishments. I wish I could be more specific. Bank money orders provide good tracking information.
How much did you pay for your purchase? Hopefully, not $160 or more.
Get FEDEX in on it, since they do not seem to have a problem, with potentially falsified businesses using their name; let them be held accountable.
ALL communication with them should be in writing. I assume you have the necessary contact information. If not, review Rip-off Reports filed here, under subject: Refund Recovery, or category: Home based businesses. There's a lot of background information here.
It might be too late for a refund depending on Statute of Limitations in your State, but that doesn't mean you can't try. Atleast make them work for it. ;)
Contact your regional BBB, and the U.S. Postal Inspectors (for your area) to see what they can offer. For Postal Inspectors in general access www.usps.com or ask your own Post Master.
Even if you purchased the product online, with the given nature of this business the United States Post Office is involved, because you receive the product by mail.
Write them a letter demanding that refund, and show them a copy of this Report.
In addition, I hope that you have filed a Rip-off Report of your own, to bring more attention to your situation.
I have a mind to contact FedEx myself, just to find out why they are not protecting their own name.
Hope you get your refund.

Did you get your money back?

In addition, what they are doing is going into a potential violation, because they are not FedEx affiliates, incorporations, or liasons in any way. FedEx has its own refund processing, and will not hire Refund Recovery Software Buyers under any subcontract of any kind. They give out their own refunds, cost free, which prices this software product out of the market. They are not going to give out their customer accounts, which are required in order for this software to come remotely close to being useful.
This company is not supposed to say they are with UPS or FEDEX, and may be subject to a lawsuit in the future for this gross missrepresentation.
I hope you request a full refund, in the form of a check or money order. If they tell you they will reimburse your account, that's bull shit, because you wouldn't give them you new updated account information, to steal again. Even if it's not a lot, every penny counts.
