My family was relocating from Pgh to Jacksonville Fl. We shopped around for the most inexpensive way to ship and Fedex explained that ground would be the best way.

We shipped 72 boxes and was told that each box would only be insured up to 100.00 a box, and If we wanted more insurance we would have to pay more to insure the packages up to 250.00.

We decided to ship the less expensive items and would except the 100.00 per box offer.

We arrived after the boxes and was told that the driver was quite upset that there was no one here in Jacksonville to help him unload the truck. Well we paid and extra 1.00 per package to have the packages delivered to our door. However we would have helped him if he would had a great attitude about it. The driver also made comments that, "they are not going to be happy anyway, because a lot of their packages have broken items".

After we were told this, we rushed to find our packages stacked on top of each other and 9 boxes of damaged items! I called to find out what the procedure was for filing a claim. I was told to ship all of the broken items back in their original pkg so that they could be inspected to make sure they were packed correctly!(Send the undamaged items also! Dah they could be damage on the way back!)

There was BROKEN glass, Frames broken and most of the items were double wrapped and I also used Newspaper and cloth and blankets to assure very low damage if any.

I asked how do you ship broken glass, should I pick it back up and place it in the boxes? I was told YES! This is unsafe and to repack and resend some of my items back in the hands of a company that really did not use care in the first place, I chose not to send some of my things back and take the loss.

However, I did send the 9 boxes back and the company said that the items were unsalvageable and Now I would have to send the company a receipt for all of the damaged items! I asked where am I supposed to find receipts for all of the damaged items that range from 1 to 15 years old!

They sent claim forms and I have 7 months to get purchase orders from stores for what it would cost to replace items broken! I spent over $800.00 to send items that were approved to ship with no problem...They took my money and now I have to go from store to store and then hope that they will compensate me for my troubles! NOT! I Will Never Ship FEDEX AGAIN!

I work in rewrap area at Fedex Hub in Memphis, TN. I got upset see damaged boxes everyday. We have about 40 people replaced damaged boxes. I can see why boxes damaged by employees at Fedex. The boxes were jammed in belts. Employees there don't care what boxes say like SIDE UP AND HANDLE WITH CARE "GLASS". They dropped and kicked boxes to conveybelt.

I work there for FEDEX for 14 years. There are very poor cooperation with freights. I can see that consumer did good job with package. NO EXCUSE for FedEx, PERIOD. Handler moved boxes flowers to carts from convey belt. He also moved transmission on top of flowers. WHO CARE??I have thought about leaving FedEx because of poor cooperation. I'm hearing impaired. Please emamil me instead of contact me on phone.
